yeah, that's A LOT of football haha

How about Bart Starr in SuperBowl #1?  I saw some good football in the late 60's, terrible in the 70's-80's and better in 90's with 20's pretty damn good.  THAT's a lot of Packer backing.

Lynn Dickey had his fun moments and his migraine moments, and then we got good ol’ Randy Wright.

Dickey to Lofton is a very under rated combo in Packers history. Dickey could spin it, but his knees of a 80 year old kept them from getting over the 8-8 hump. They did give us some great moments though.

Than John Jefferson showed up from San Diego, and the receiver combo was quickly dubbed the greatest pair of all times....Than reality came and the bottom unfortunately fell out....

Lynn Dickey threw the most beautiful ball.  Yah he wasn't real mobile back there.  First game I ever went to was at Milwaukee County stadium against the Rams.  Dickey broke his leg in that one.  Give him time in the pocket he would shred you.  Problem is he never had enough time in the pocket.   He's still one of my all time favorite Packers.

Unfortunately Dickey came before MacArthur Lane and John Brockington....

The Jefferson trade was a brutally bad trade by the Packers. Not as bad as the Hadl trade, but bad just the same.

Actually Lane was gone and Brockington was in his last season with the Packers when they traded for Dickey.

I suppose they gave up too much for a player that was past his prime....The Hadl trade was Devine's debacle...He left afterwards for Notre Dame....

Think it was the 85 draft, Packers make a move up to #7?  I was thoroughly convinced they we moving up for Jerry Rice.  You would have had Lofton, Rice and Dickey.  Nope, we took USC OT Ken Ruettgers, who was a pretty good player and Rice went on to play somewhere out West.  EVERY time I see Jerry Rice I think of that trade up and the Packers on the clock.

Rice was the 3rd WR selected that year, Al Toon was viewed by most everyone as the top WR in that draft. Ruettgers was probably the right pick for GB, Rice would of never been the same Rice that he was with Wright throwing to him instead of Montana. 1985 was Dickey's last season.

One thing that never changes is fans wanting the team to draft players that have their hands on the ball. My Dad was always happy when a HB or FB was a 1st round selection. Paul Horning, Jim Taylor (2nd RD), Tom Moore, Earl Gros, Donny Anderson, Jim Grabowski all made him feel like they had a better chance to win than drafting some lineman or defensive player. Todays fans obsess about WR's, if you never take your eyes off the ball I guess the only players that ever need to be drafted are a QB, a RB and a couple of WR's.
