48 1/2ers
Just got tickets to the RWC7's. Kinda strange but I'm most excited to watch the Women's Matches. The Olympics got me hooked on it. Edited July 28, 2017 by 48 1/2ers
UKTexans
Women's rugby in the UK is pretty controversial right now. Our World Champions aren't having their contracts for 15s renewed, instead focusing on Rugby 7's. http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/rugby-union/40719725 Also, think we should probably turn this into a more generic Rugby thread. Wow what a bummer, sounds like its been an issue for sometime. 15's is just a better all around game but 7's has the constant scoring and highlight plays that I guess brings more money. Took your advice on the thread title, I just got excited about the RWC7's.
UKTexans
I'm hoping after the success of the Lions Tour in NZ that the interest in rugby has increased globally. The big news though to affect domestic rugby is that 2 South African club sides will be joining the Pro 12 next season. That will lead to some long haul away days! Small Town Values
2018 - Super Rugby - News: Western Force culled from Super Rugby competition https://www.foxsports.com.au/rugby/super-rugby/western-force-culled-from-super-rugby-competition/news-story/5b379907a78f05c2fc1b554862cd9ffc Quote IN a dramatic day for Australian rugby, Western Force have been axed from the Super Rugby competition and ARU chief Bill Pulver has announced he will quit. At a press conference in Sydney on Friday evening, Pulver confirmed he will leave his role as soon as a replacement can be found. Force players and officials reacted angrily to the news they will be cut and have vowed to keep fighting the ARU in the courts. Force hooker Heath Tessman simply wrote “cowards” on Twitter after the ARU announced they would discontinue the franchise, while WA Rugby declared they’re looking to appeal the decision in the Supreme Court. devils1854
Any interest in the upcoming professional league in the US? This league has a much better chance of succeeding than last years PRO Rugby since the clubs are all privately owned and most come from existing clubs in the US. New Orleans(had success in D1 and D2 this decade) Dallas(from the Griffins D1 Rugby club) Austin(previously tied with the Huns, 2017 D1 champs) Kansas City(Blues, one of the oldest rugby clubs in US) Glendale(Raptors, home of US Rugby) Utah(ties with developmental side Rugby Utah) Seattle(Saracens, probably best club in US) Minneapolis(new club) Houston(new club)

Women's rugby is absolutely dire. You could find the worst team in tier in the Rugby Pyramid, I am talking pub rugby on a Saturday, with the guys drinking port at half time and they'll beat the England Women team. It's not a sexist comment, its that the quality is terrible. Edited August 20, 2017 by gillam

Small Town Values
News: New Zealand pip England to World Cup glory in pulsating final http://www.espn.com.au/rugby/story/_/id/20467120/new-zealand-41-32-england-all-blacks-win-women-rugby-world-cup-final Quote New Zealand wrecked England's hopes of retaining the Women's Rugby World Cup in a pulsating final at Belfast's Kingspan Stadium. The Red Roses had high hopes of keeping an unforgettable summer of English women's sport in full bloom, following cricket World Cup success, a European Championship semi-final appearance by England's footballers and Johanna Konta becoming the first British women's singles semi-finalist since 1978. But it was not to be as the Black Ferns overturned a seven-point interval deficit to triumph 41-32. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Stats: http://www.rwcwomens.com/stats Edited September 1, 2017 by Marc MacGyver

Lol. I was hyped for that game expecting it to be a real contest... LOL - It was all one way traffic & one of the saddest South African performances I've ever witnessed. Don't get me wrong, the All Blacks were brilliant, almost perfect, but the Bokke just gave up.
