You are missing the point. Point is you took Leatherwood and probably could have got him many picks later. You did same with Arnette and same with Ferrell and Abram. By knowing or somewhat knowing how other teams value players, which is represented in mock drafts from guys with access to NFL scouts within a range, you can often still get guy you love and extra picks to boot. Falling in love with a guy and taking him as quick as you possibly can is not a smart draft strategy overall. You should only do that with a QB. A lot of times best player in a teams draft is found in 3rd or 4th round and wasn't a targeted player. You are leaving some of those lottery tickets on table doing it Mayock and Gruden way. I mean, I think Moehrig at 17 would still be a reach, just not as bad a one. Leatherwood at 43 would be a decent value, but not great.
