Good. Analytics can be a very important part of team building. Not really surprising, giving Tony Khan's involvement. He's obviously of that same mind, regarding the value of analytics. Personally, i'm not really such a big believer. This ain't baseball. But as long as they're being applied appropriately and focused properly, not overemphasized, misused, and abused...it shouldn't really hurt to have those different perspectives involved in some capacity. Even if it's just as a different framework for trying to reflect on potential "blindspots" in the way the organization is doing things. I'm just wary of organizations where "analytics" start to grow into a core guiding principle in everything they do. It can very quickly lose sight of the bigger picture and do a lot of damage by accident. Especially considering that not all analytics are created equal, and not all organizations are as adept at integrating data and metrics with proper context. Though with Urban at the helm now...it's hard to see analytics really taking over here any time soon. Despite the department appearing to be on the uptick...Urban's focus on the "human connection" element seems like it'll be the core principle, over data and analytics. Though he does obviously have an interest in quantifying certain things.
