Home Fans at the Allegiant

Raider fans....

Im a UK based NFL fan of 10 years or so. To this point Ive mainly followed the teams that my money was down on any given season. Now however I am looking to follow a specific team and my heart tells me its the Raiders. Can you tell me what your expectations are re having a strong home advantage and excellent Raider fan present at the Allegiant stadium going forward? I'm concerned its going to be a bit of a mix of fans because of the Vegas impact.

I can see that 2nd hand ticket prices are currently priced at stupid money, do you think they will always be inflated because its LV?

Cheers

I read online that current ticket holders for this upcoming season average about 80 percent Raiders fans and 20 percent away team fans.  That obviously will change based upon the games, but I'm not really too worried about it compared to other fans and posters on this forum.  But there's only one way to find out of course.  I just hope we don't become like the Chargers and have more away team fans than Raiders fans.

Thanks, absolutely agree. I have not been to Oakland but I love what I see and hear about Raider Nation. Would like to think that when I make it over to Vegas for a game one day, that I can have a great time with an abundance of serious home fans.

The Raiders games will sadly become just another attraction in Vegas as they price out the real fans of the team and fans of other teams or just people in Vegas looking for something to do on Sunday will fill the stands.

Yeh, thats the concern....

I've heard that the casinos purchased a bunch of the PSL's last year unfortunately. Las Vegas also has some of the cheapest flights to and from any destination in the country. When you go to Vegas on Sunday's during football season you'll see fans out from every team in the league. I think we'll see a lot of fans come to Vegas for the weekend capped off by seeing their team play the Raiders.

I lived in the Bay Area for the last three years and had a chance to catch quite a few games. Nothing will ever beat taking the BART to the Coliseum with a bunch of Raiders fans going crazy. I'll probably go to the Raiders/Chargers game at So-Fi now that I live in Los Angeles but I'm not paying those ridiculous ticket prices to go to a game in Vegas.

Yeh, it might end up being that given I live in the UK I will fly over to the East coast to pick a Raiders away game. It would need to be a proper special occasion to blow the money on flights to Vegas from the UK, hotels and those game tickets (as well as losing a little on the tables while there of course). I hear that Raider Nation is wide spread. I'm kinda hoping that Raider fans come from far and wide and take up some of those Vegas seats, but the price, as you say - gulp!

Its not great that Casino's bought PSL's, I dont really understand why the team would allow that if they want a solid home support.

Yeah the Raiders definitely have one of the biggest fanbases in the country and you'll meet Raiders fans anywhere you go. The city of Las Vegas has definitely embraced the Raiders as you see Raiders flags, posters, license plates, etc all around the city. I have a couple of friends from LA that have season tickets and people from LA and the Bay frequently go to Vegas for the weekend so I'm sure we'll still have a ton of fan support between those people as well as the locals that attend games.

The stadium doesn't get built without Casino money and they essentially run the entire city. They were always going to get first dibs on tickets. And from the casino's perspective, who's spending more money? The locals that live in Vegas or the tourists that have to stay at hotels, will likely gamble at their establishments, and eat at their restaurants?

It won’t be as bad as Charger games where it’s like a 50/50 crowd every game, or even a home game for the visiting team with like 75% of the crowd with a fanbase that travels well such as the Steelers, Eagles, Raiders, Packers, Cowboys, or Bears.

I would estimate about 15% of every game being away fans, a big step up from the 4-5% Oakland would get. If it’s a well traveling team like I just mentioned, I could see 30-35% of the crowd being away fans.

It will never be 50/50 though because the Raiders fanbase is a Top 5 popular fanbase compared to the Chargers who probably have the second least amount of fans ahead of the Jaguars.

I think the obvious is if the team starts playing really well I think the home team attendance will take care of itself and yes Vegas is an attraction but who wants to pay inflated ticket prices just to see your team get slaughtered (we hope🙏). Maybe the first 5 or so years it's maybe a thing but like most things they do wear off.

I have a lot of friends who support other teams but they're second favorite team is the Raiders. When I'm at a bar and the Raiders are on the TV a lot of people cheer for them.
