You had Oblivion Bioshock, Mass Effect, Assassins Creed (the sequels in the following years were much better), Halo 3 (campaign) all launch in the first two years of that 360 generation. And many followed after like the Arkham games, Fallout, was a banner Sony took up too when they launched Uncharted and have basically transformed their entire pipeline to be those 3rd person narrative driven games ever since. Singleplayer has stayed fairly strong despite the hit from the middle 2010s when it looked like a lot of the greediest publishers were pushing teams away from it or making it loaded with nickel & dime Micro-transactions. Wether it be MUT, games like Anthem that took great SP studios and made them totally change why people liked them in the first place, dropping campaign in shooter franchises, or just not investing in games like Xbox did after the botched launch of the XB1. Could it be that you are older? I know personally I transitioned off multiplayer as a focus as I left my teenage years (the height of the FPS era 2007-2010). Last 5 years I’ve almost cut out multiplayer entirely. I do think we’re going to be getting back to a great place with SP. They are seeing that if they actually commit to it the community responds and supports it. Jedi Fallen Order really seemed to change EAs mind (the massive dunking they endured for gutting BioWare, doing what they did to Visceral, etc. helped). Those are all third party games, though. I can play those games on any console. Sony clearly has a lot of elite single-player exclusives. Uncharted, Horizon, God of War, Spider-Man, Ratchet and Clank, The Last of Us, Ghost of Tsushima, etc. I don't like games like Fallout. Jedi Fallen Order is like an average-ish game, imo. Those games just aren't as good as PS exclusives, which I obviously could not access on Xbox.

At the time a lot of those were in some way though. Why not include those? They are the majority of what a generation is. Obviously that changes it to a different conversation, especially with Xbox hitting snooze for half of the last decade as they recovered. Had a couple ones I enjoyed like Ryse, Quantum Break, but neither really held a candle to God of War (one #1 game of the generation). Sony killed it the back half of gen, even if you weren’t high on particular titles (like personally not big on Naughty Dog games and was a tiny bit disappointed with Spider-man) Grander point with Jedi Fallen Order was single player seems to finally be getting a little bit of love back from those 3rd party publishers. That plus the sheer output of both PlayStation and Xbox in that lane coming up…it’s a good time for fans of those types of games.
elevators_rule
Yeah, to be honest, I actually didn't enjoy PS3 exclusives really at all. I don't think Sonys exclusives were all that good until the PS4. But I'm probably pretty unique in that I didn't like The Last of Us or Uncharted (super overrated IMO). The PS4, on the other hand, has some of the greatest single player games of all time with Bloodborne, God of War, and FF7: Remake (bias on this one). I don't think you missed anything by playing the 360 over the PS3 tbh. Sony hadn't really hit their stride yet.

Yeah I’d agree with that, even the beginning of the gen wasn’t near how people view Sony now. It was really that second wave that was like hit after hit for people. God of War was so damn good. I’m 100% with you on Uncharted/TLOU. I’ve heard the most recent iterations were a little better on gameplay. But I was so disappointed in the ones on PS3, was the whole reason I picked up that console near the end that gen. Just excited where both companies are going, hope we get two God of War games this gen. Starfield and God of War “2” both coming out next fall is gonna be awesome.

Its not so much that they didnt hit their stride as much as it was that they lost some exclusives and weren't producing as many on PS3. Remember....PS1 and PS2 had a bunch of great exclusives. Final Fantasy MAIN titles were also exclusive to Sony on PS1 and 2. PS4 just reestablished they dominance with exclusives. Yeah, I definitely see your point. PS1/PS2 exclusives were fantastic, some of the greatest games of all time. Although, to be honest, I think that was some golden era for gaming. Nintendo/Microsoft/Sony all killed it during that time. All of those consoles are filled with such classics. SteelKing728
Is it possible to play older Madden games on PS5 digitally? I want the PS5 with the disc drive but still play the old Madden games. That's possible, right?

So if I'm the Vikings matched up against the Bears this week, I'd play as the Lions the week prior against the Bears as practice. I could do that without having to control Detroit as well as Minnesota.

You need to either insert the disc if you own an old disc, or you would have needed to purchase the game digitally to play it on PS5. I want to play a digital copy of old ps2 madden and disc version of ps5. I'm curious if that's even possible.

Only way to play a game older than PS4 era is of it's available for download on the PS Store and I'm pretty sure no Madden games that old are on there.
