last two steelers playoff games

found themselves down 20+, but the offense started to make it a game in the 3rd, only for the defense to go soft. kinda eerie how similar those two games were, considering we don't see that happen often at Heinz

Rodgers vs Warner in the 2009 Playoffs

31-10 Arizona in the 3rd quarter turned into a Packers OT loss on a controversial no call for roughing the passer.

That Packers OT drive was kind of nuts:

  • 1st down: Jennings gets open deep and Rodgers just barely misses him.
  • 2nd down: Missed hit to the head on Rodgers. (holding penalty on GB)
  • 3rd down: Missed hands to the face on Rodgers on the fumble.

For the record, this was not illegal at the time. They tightened the ruling on hands to the face in like 2014 or 2015. Now, just about any contact to the facemask will qualify. But back then, it had to be prolonged, deliberate, and forceful contact (so basically had to be shoving a guy in the face for a good while), and it didn't apply to ball carriers and tacklers (unless there was a twist or turn, in which case obviously that's a facemask.) This was also prior to them making roughing the passer stricter, and including any contact to the head. I want to say it was 2018 where they went nuts on that one.

That game is one forever etched in my mind.

The ending was a bit crappy, but man that game was ridiculously fun to watch.

Weren't there more TDs than incompletions thrown?

Colts 2 best comebacks

- Manning’s Colts Monday Night vs Buccaneers 10/7/03

down 35-14 they score 3 TDs in the last 4 minutes of regulation and a FG in OT to win

- Luck’s Colts AFC Wild Card vs Chiefs 01/04/14

How do these count as "almost" comebacks?

During the Packers horrid 4-12 year in 2005, they fell behind Carolina 26-7 in the 3rd quarter. They came back to only be down 32-29, and then had the ball late but a drive stalled on the Carolina side of the field and Delhomme then kneeled out the clock.

2012 Week 15 49ers at Patriots: Patriots came back to tie the game 31-31, after being down 31-3. But eventually they lost 41-34. Before Super Bowl 51, I'm thinking that would have been Tom Brady's nuttiest comeback win.

Came in to post this one. Remember it well. NE had some awful luck to go behind by so much, including a pick six on a fumbled screen pass if I recall. The Pats forced about half a dozen fumbles but could only recover 1, and 1 was recovered for an offensive TD. Crazy game. But by the time it got to 31-31 I was pretty sure they had the momentum and the win...and then the defense blew it. Heartbreaker, which cost them the 1 seed that year.
