3 Up, 5 Down - Steelers

Recommended Posts

Yeah, i don't have 5 ups.

Up

  1. Thought WJ3 played a really good game.  He should probably be starting.
  2. Mixon did a nice job when given carries.
  3. Defense did a good job on 3rd and short.  Felt like they stopped about 5 of them. (probably helps the Steelers brought in their short yard "specialist" - aka the guy who is much worse at it than Bell, but whatever)

Down

  1. Pass blocking - they were all pretty bad.  Pretty much no clean pockets in the second half.
  2. Carlos Dunlap - this guy has been invisible all season
  3. Pass rush in general.  They never really made Ben uncomfortable.
  4. Kirkpatrick - tackling was bad.  Coverage was bad.
  5. Dalton's fourth down throw-away.  I mean, what in the hell.

Pretty much agree with all of these.

Add the "Let's not cover either gunner and goad them into going for it" play in the Down category.

J, can't argue with that list. WJ3 was a stud. Mixon was great but was limited since they never gave him the ball.

Seriously! Don't we get caught off guard by a trick play every time we play them? It's like we asked for it.

I'm pretty sure it was Randel El that threw that pass yesterday on the punt.

Our run defense was pitiful. Bell made our team look like children

To be fair, he does that to most teams.

highlighted our lack of tackling that is for sure.

Positives I saw

- William Jackson

- Mixon in first half

- Dalton in first half

- Brandon Lafell had some good catches

- Defensive stops on 3rd and short

other than that it was pretty sad in the second half. Our tackles and center continue to look putrid. Another poor showing following bye weeks. The theme seems to be shut down AJ Green and our offense sputters

Can't wait for WJIII to play spot duty again while Kirkpatrick plays 100% of the snaps...

This is accurate.

He's been burned a few times this year, but overall has been their best corner.  Dennard has been good too.  He's tackled really well.

Since nobody brought him up...

I'll add MJ to the up group.  He continues to play the hybrid role extremely well.  Well enough, that he plays out this contract.
