2022 where we finally are rebuilt draft thread

Big if.  He's had a good camp and pushed around some 3rd and 4th stringers in the Cleveland game, but he's not even a starter yet.

Isn't this the exact same thing that could be said about Pat F, though? He isn't a starter either, and everything about him is a big if, as well. Two catches, even if they were both for TDs, for 19 yards in one preseason game doesn't really prove anything. He also wasn't even healthy enough to play in their first preseason game, and then recorded zero catches in his second game.

Urban made it clear they targeted some TEs in Free Agency and the players chose to go elsewhere; whether because it was a money thing or they liked their potential role there more. The two big names went to the offense that is the best in the entire league at getting TEs involved in the offense. Of course they're going to sign with a team where they're the defacto #1 receiving option over a team with no real history at the NFL level of featuring TEs. Should we overpay for a guy who would rather be somewhere else, just to make sure that we have the position addressed? History with Hugh Douglass and Aaron Ross would say no.

He made it clear that he wanted to make a move for Pitts, but the team would have had to part with too much to make it happen.

This roster was a disaster; the 2020 team was one of the worst teams of all time, and everything needed an overhaul. There was always going to be positions that didn't get addressed right away, and the fact that they addressed everything except TE is pretty impressive, tbh.

Pat F I liked a lot but I also don’t really see him ever being a “game changer”. Just doesn’t fit that type of profile imo.

Also, give me the OL/protection over a TE for TLaw, especially a high upside OT prospect given our OT struggles last year and our current LT being on a one year deal.

5: R1 P5 OT Evan Neal - Alabama
37: R2 P5 TE Jalen Wydermyer - Texas A&M
69: R3 P5 LB Henry To'o To'o - Alabama
107: R4 P5 G Zion Johnson - Boston College
147: R5 P5 CB Derion Kendrick - TBD
154: R5 P12 C Jarrett Patterson - Notre Dame
184: R6 P5 EDGE DeAngelo Malone - Western Kentucky
224: R7 P5 LB Kuony Deng - California

Neal gives us a starting quality ot.  Wydermyer gives a pass catcher at the.  To'o to'o should give us lb flexibility.  Zion could takeover a guard spot. Kendrick was pure bpa.  Patterson gives us a potential future c.  Malone is among bpa and gives us another pass rusher.  Deng is a sleeper who has an interesting build and could be a Edge/ilb guy

If Little even becomes a top 15 OT...he’ll be a better pick than a TE. Marcus Davenport is a man child. If he  stays healthy he’s probably one of the best DEs this year. Probably one of the few DEs able to overpower Little. Step off the ledge

We still need 2 good tackles.  I'm to be determined on little.
