Kiltman
It’s crazy how much this whole thing has mirrored the Wentz situation here. Unlike Wentz though him wanting to leave was obviously coming at some point.
Kirill
Man I would love this guy in OKC but he clearly cares about location. But Shai Dort and Simmons with the rest of our young cats and our badass coach would be nasty. Just throw them 6 picks Derrick Favors Darius Bazley and say thank you. If the Rockets acquire Simmons while keeping KPJ and House I think they'll be competitive. PG - Ben Simmons | DJ Augustin | Dante Exum SG - Jalen Green | Kevin Porter Jr SF - Jae'Sean Tate | Josh Christopher PF - Danuel House | Daniel Theis C - Christian Wood | Alperen Sengun | Usman Gabaru You've been one of the biggest Ben Simmons truthers on the forum, you know that having him is instantly going to make the team a lot better. He's an All-NBA, All-Defense caliber player and they'd have a ton of flexibility with their rotations and defensive versatility. that roster still isnt a playoff team. that team is picking 10th in the draft. thats not what the rockets should be aiming for. rockets need to get a 2nd potential star via the draft. Ben Simmons, 3x All-Star, 1x All-NBA, 1x All-Defense, and the runner up for DPOY last season isn't a 2nd star? He was the second best player on the team with the third best record in the league last season. Simmons was just ranked as the 28th best player in the league by ESPN. And the only players ranked higher that came into the league at the same time or later than him were Zion Williamson, Donovan Mitchell, Bam Adebayo, Jaylen Brown, Brandon Ingram, Jayson Tatum, Trae Young, and Luka Doncic. The likelihood that you find someone better than him at the top of the draft is slim to none.

Minnesota's front office reportedly has the support of the new ownership group and is putting on the full court press to acquire Simmons. The only issue is that they reportedly aren't willing to give up any of their core 4. Does Philly cave and accept a deal like... Philadelphia receives: Malik Beasley, Pat Beverly, Jaden McDanniels, 2022, 2024, 2026 1sts (unprotected) Minnesota receives: Ben Simmons, Tyrese Maxey

Philly really botched this one. They needed to move him earlier. They should have let him go for Harden when they had the chance. I hope they end up having to take a package like this though with the way they have played it. If this is the type of deal that its going to take though, I can see some other teams getting back in it, like Sacramento and Portland. I hear he wants to play for the Clippers too which would give them a nasty perimeter defense. That would have to be a deal for Bledsoe, Kennard/Morris, and filler like Ibaka, Zubac, or Keon Johnson plus some picks but that would be a similar deal to the T Wolves. Either way Philly would be getting pennies on the dollar.

He was ranked as the 28th best player in the league by ESPN and the 31st best player in the league by Sports Illustrated coming into this season. He's 25 years old and has been an All-Star in 3/4 seasons, made an All-NBA team, made an All-Defense team, and was 2nd in DPOY voting last year. It's easy to look back at one playoff series that he struggled in and be down on him but you have to look at the whole picture. Every season that Ben Simmons has played for Philly they've been one of the best teams in the NBA. They were just the #1 seed in the Eastern Conference and a game away from the ECF. The previous year when Simmons didn't play in the postseason they got swept in the first round. Fans and the main stream media only value scoring when evaluating players but there's a lot more to the game then scoring, which is why the teams that players like Ben Simmons and Rudy Gobert have been on consistently win and make the playoffs. When you look at the list of the players that are considered "stars" they're all guys that score. Devin Booker wasn't able to win anything before HOF PG Chris Paul showed up, Brad Beal hasn't been able to lead his team to any type of success, Zion Williamson production hasn't resulted in winning, Kyrie Irving has never been able to win without an elite superstar next to him, and Anthony Davis wasn't able to win without LeBron James. Simmons has his limitations as a shooter but are Giannis or Butler good shooters? No and they both just led their teams to the NBA finals. Simmons floor is 16/8/8 while also being one of the best/most versatile defenders in the league. How is that not a star player? The only reason people even made such a big deal about their playoff failure last season was because they were expected to go deep as the #1 seed with Embiid/Simmons. If he wasn't good and they choked, no one would've cared.

Based on reports he would prefer to play in California but at this point is open to playing anywhere that isn't Philadelphia. D'Angelo Russell and Karl Anthony-Towns are also two of his best friends. A foursome of Simmons/Russell/KAT/Edwards has a ton of potential to be a very good team and their other key players actually fit around him perfectly. Ben Simmons is under contract for 4 more seasons, he has zero leverage. Harden had leverage because any team that traded for him could've potentially lost him after 2 seasons. Anthony Davis had leverage because any team that traded for him could've potentially lost him after 1 season.

And I disagree I think Jalen is going to have a great rookie season. Donovan Mitchell averaged 20 ppg as a rookie and did it with better efficiency numbers across the board then what Luka Doncic put up. Dude is going to be in the 99th percentile in terms of athleticism from day 1 and is a walking bucket. Donovan Mitchell, age 21 33.4 mpg 20.1 ppg 54.1% TS Luka Doncic, age 19 32.2 mpg 21.5 ppg, 54.5% TS Uhhh what?

He had a better overall FG%, better 3P FG%, better FT%... While being the #1 option on a playoff team in the West that beat the reining MVP and Paul George in the 1st round. It factors in getting to the FT line which is why guys like Harden puts up decent-ish shooting splits but has elite efficiency year in and year out.
