Something is wrong in NFL News.

The Frank Clark thread is mostly just firearms discussion.

The Jaylen Twyman thread has zero football related posts.

The Zaven Collins thread has no football discussion either.

But the Carl Nassib thread gets locked in one minute?

The issue obviously isn’t actually related to “lack of football discussion”

Seems like FF caters to the lowest common denominator far too often. Why don’t we just let people say hateful things and ban them for breaking the rule against saying hateful things?

Really hoping to have an open conversation with a mod or admin about this, as opposed to the thread just getting locked. FF rules and the enforcement of the rules needs a revamp in a bad way.

Playing devil's advocate: maybe because it would be a bad look for the site. Regardless of whether the offenders are banned afterwards, it's still going to run off members who sincerely want to discuss football.

I'm sorry. I wouldn't have locked the thread if it was my own volition. I know  I've already spoken to you on another medium, but the best advice I can offer you is to speak to Webby directly on the subject of forum policy.

No need to apologize, didn’t mean for you to catch and stray bullets. The issue isn’t you, but a set of rules that’s out dated and serves to placate hateful people rather than promote positive discussion.

If people run away because FF bans racists and homophobes, we are better off without them.

I mean that if we let that stuff be posted, it could run off members who aren't racists and homophobes.

"They're letting people say crap like that on this board? Hard pass. I'll go somewhere else."

Did you miss the part where I said they get banned?

If you saw those people saying those things get banned you wouldn’t think “oh they must allow racism, because I saw a racist poster get banned” or “they must allow homophobia, because I saw a homophobic poster get banned”

Apparently you're frustrated and there's no point in trying to discuss this with you. Never mind.

NFL news is always a mess this time of year. All the news that happens now isn’t football related.  All the topics you mentioned should probably be locked,  but then members would scream and cry about how mods just lock everything.

So the mods keep open some topics and lock others and members get upset because of the inconsistency.  It’s a no win situation for the mods, but I don’t think there is any malicious intent.

Yeah I saw, it just doesn’t make sense.

If you see a racist get banned, you’re not going to think “they must allow racism” are you?

I also agree the mods aren’t acting with malicious intent

Which is why I think the rules they’re asked to enforce  and the way they’re asked to enforce them needs a revamp

Rather than “no discussion of race” why not “no racist or derogatory speech”

instead of “no discussion of sexual orientation” why not “no homophobic speech or discrimination based on gender, orientation or sexual identity”?

Send me a PM with what you have in mind. I don’t want to have a public debate on forum administration , but I’m always open to feedback.

Yep.  The rules and standards are the same as a decade and a half ago, but the world and society isn’t.

This forum isn’t keeping up with the times tbh, and I’m not talking about site features.
