I think the O-Line we saw today willbe the starting group coming week 1: Brown/Thuney/Humphrey/Smith/Remmers

The fact that they just went ahead and rolled with Smith day one at RG is a huge vote of confidence, IMO. Even with Long on PUP, that means they had him with the 1s over LDT, Wylie, Blythe, and Allegretti, who have all been at least passable Gs and are vets at this point.

I am trying hard to temper my reactions already, because immediately it feels like there's been so much hype around every player I would want to hear good things about. Smith, Gay, Hardman, Gray, Powell. Just need some positive news around Deandre Baker and Nick Bolton and everything will just feel crazy optimistic.

Is there a negative thing to say about any of our guys😂.

That said,  I do think Trey brings an attitude our OL has been missing for quite some time.

Our QB seems to be having a hard time seeing his receivers downfield?

The guy reminds me so much of Osemele and even looks like the guy imo.

I think Smith was at OTA and LDT was not. That' the only thing I read into it. The Remmers/Niang duel is my primary interest. For now Niang is taking snaps at second team LT, presumably to play swing OT if needed. Remmers is a solid RT, but not LT.

Also, everyone was raving about #50, a year under his belt, looks fast and explosive. Could be the best LB group we’ve had in a while

I just wish that was a harder standard. The article cited above has some comments on Gay.

Injured and missing from camp.

Day 2

Absent and limited included Travis Kelce and Anthony Hitchens. The others were carry overs from Day #1.

Some takeaway points. This was about the rookies. Noah Gray impressed, Bolton did not, Creed Humphrey was off, Antonio Callaway is a name to remember.

The Chiefs signed Joe Thuney to be a veteran presence and he is doing that. He also likes working with Orlando Brown.

Byron Pringle is going after the KR job.

OMG

Chris Jones dropped about 20 pounds from last year's playing weight in anticipation of playing more DE.

Great line

My favorite gap is any gap, any gap where I can get to the quarterback. I’m excited about it.

Day 3

Kelce, Winchester and Hitchens returned to practice. No one new is out, but Hitchens only did individual drills. Update: LS Drew Scott waived.

Some quick hits from day #3. The defense is looking good, Thornhill looks back to normal, Niang is getting some RT work with the 1st unit after playing LT with the second unit, Kemp is making his case for a WR slot, Jerick McKinnon is looking good at RB3.

Here is a vote for a defensive breakout. Three reasons--continuity, veteran presence, breakout youth.

Mahomes made the Madden 99 club again. His fiancée surprised him at the ceremony by bringing his baby daughter.

The chiefs have retooled the OL. They also need to replace Sammy Watkins. Both of these are important elements of a retuning of the offense. Other key elements are Mecole hardman and Clyde Edwards-Hellaire.

Some months ago, Mahomes made a comment about winning all the games. While it was not exactly a prediction of 20-0, Mahomes is also not backing down on it.

Mahomes has been impressed with a couple of veteran FA signings, Jerick McKinnon and Antonio Callaway.

This is interesting in the vein of morale building. Mahomes has an individualized handshake with each of his OL. Notice how it does not impede the flow of conversation.

Quick hits from Friday. Remmers ws out with back spasms, so Niang played RT, Jody Fortson is making waves at TE, the OL tried some counter action, Gay and Bolton impressed with two veterans out.
https://chiefswire.usatoday.com/lists/kansas-city-chiefs-training-camp-takeaways-day-4/

The Chiefs rebuilt the OL this offseason. How much will that affect the offensive design? It could be quite a lot. Orlando Brown is looking really good. On the right side, Smith and Niang both excel as run blockers. The idea is that the Chiefs may move away from a mostly zone concept to one with more power/trap orientation. We know Mahomes can handle the ball. Why not design some more play-action into the offense?

One on Clyde. He is looking to upgrade his integration with the passing game.
