Damn, this one hit me hard. Gibbs is the reason I love OL play do much (I was scrawny in HS, played S and WR)

Story time. I wasn’t a very good kid as a teenager. Got busted for underage drinking in 1997 at the ripe old age of 13 and sentenced to community service building a park. This was June-ish and Broncos OL and Coach Gibbs showed up. Gibbs gave me that verbal *** kicking that only a great coach can give. That one that implores you to say thank you and yearn for more at the end. Best day of my life. God speed coach.

That's an awesome story. I would have continued to drink probably, but would have at least had second thoughts about it.

Damn, that makes me sad. He was truly an OL genius. One of those few that actually changed the game. Great guy, excellent speaker and teacher.

If any of you guys are interested he's got a bunch of videos on OL play on youtube. He was quite a character too. Kind of a "must listen" if he was on the radio and always great for a quote.

I can't remember what game it was but a reporter caught Gibbs as he was running off the field after a great day by the OL against a good defense and asked him about it. He just said, "if #7 gets hit, I get fired" and kept jogging.

We'll miss ya Alex
