Its lacking depth of A list players compared to previous Olympic teams but KD, Dame, Tatum, and Beal along with a bunch of really solid top 40 NBA players (and Kevin Love) should be able to beat a team lead by Patty Mills. They are all pure scorers and two of them don't defend at all. Same with LaVine. Guys like Beal and LaVine in particular have never won anything and give you nothing outside of scoring, which when forced to be a role player, isn't ideal. So can Brown and Bam. Eventually they would have Jrue as well which will help. But still, with that scoring power, they should be able to run people out of the gym. KD and Dame are the only A list guys. Curry, Kawhi, LeBron, Harden, Davis, CP3 and Butler are all nowhere to be found. There are legitimate reasons for that but the point remains. This team just lacks any sort of perimeter defense at the moment and probably could use someone who would move the ball. Holiday is going to be good for the team, especially the starting unit as he will be the defensive stopper and someone who is not going to need the ball offensively. Once the roles become defined, they will be fine. It's not going to be pretty as they don't have the overwhelming talent they had in 2008 and 2012, but good enough to win it all. They dont need a Steph/Harden type, they need defenders and passers. Yes Kawhi, Butler and Lebron would help any team if healthy but they don't need them to win this. They have the star power, they just to fit together well and have no chemistry. This team should still easily dominate the world competition if they tried.
