Mixon still got drafted in the second round and will get extended. This will be old news a year from now, right or wrong ethically. If they can't get real compensation, there's no reason to trade him this season. Pretty much old news already. Just gotta wait for the settlement to finalize. NFL gives him a few games, he then appeals, it’s reduced. He’s traded, sits his two games. Starts. Lights it up. Saga over.

It's absolutely, COMPLETELY, unlikely at this point. And the league is probably going to suspend him for a substantial period of time either way...and it's kind of gobsmacking that they haven't already. Also--who the hell WANTS Watson right now? And why?
AZ_Eaglesfan
I have no idea how the league didn't suspend him after their investigation... No one will meet an amount that is even remotely close to what the Texans will ask for him. He is staying in Huston, unless they practically give him away.

There are now ten criminal complaints in front of the Houston PD. You honestly think they all get dismissed? They won't. He'll end being charged, for at least a few of them...if not all. This doesn't get easier for Watson. It gets much, much uglier. Have you ever heard of a guy with all this hanging over him (in recent times) that simply just shrugs it all off, and walks away? Exactly what are you hearing locally?

Now, I personally think there was probably enough evidence there to send Roethlisberger to jail...but it didn't happen. Watson's case is far different. It could end up he avoids any consequences. But he shouldn't, and it's rather unlikely.

If he settles with all these women out of court on civil suits, bet your bottom dollar that part of that settlement is an agreement to not testify in any criminal charges the police might want to levy. That essentially renders their case DOA and it wont be pursued.

And based on all the evidence we've heard...he's not escaping the civil suits, either. If criminal charges are put forth (and that process has begun), those can't backtrack to civil issues. They are investigated as sex crimes. DeShaun Watson is in a whole world of hurt right now. Whether you want to accept that, or not.

Unless a settlement is reached and all those who filed subsequently drop the criminal compleints - which is absolutely on the table. Sadly enough, the burden of proof for sexual assault is pretty significant. Sexual misconduct - which is what's being alleged and corroborated with texts, Instagram messages, etc - is what the evidence is pointing to in these cases, and are viewed as a Class B Misdemeanor and punishable by a six month sentence and a $2,000 fine. https://www.nedbarnett.com/can-sexual-harassment-crime/ Now, given Rusty Hardin is probably on a seven figure retainer for this case, do you think his client is going to see ANY jail time? Any at all? Bill Cosby spent three years for nearly 10x the charges - not because he was old, not because there's evidence of innocence/reasonable doubt, but because he has money. Money wins out in these instances. 53 minutes ago, Heinz D. said: This doesn't get easier for Watson. It gets much, much uglier. Watson has 22 cases over a 10 month period, and evidence is limited to digital correspondence. Cosby has hundred of cases over three decades, complete with physical evidence and a transcript of admission from Cosby himself. That was good for three years - significantly more evidence, an actual confession of guilt over the course of 30 years and all it got him was three years. I'm not saying it's right - quite opposite, it's very wrong - but it's how this works out when you've got a war chest that lawyers can access. 1 hour ago, Heinz D. said: Exactly what are you hearing locally? Honestly if the Dolphins do trade for him (I still believe they were never as interested as the media was trying to paint) I'd likely renounce the team and just become a permanent Titans fan. He clearly is a predator. And I hope he never plays another down in the NFL.
