mikebpackfan
It was funny watching Amos’ press conference. It didn’t seem like he GAF about Rodger’s return. Edited July 28, 2021 by mikebpackfan

Rodjahs12
Yeah the bit about him being this blue chip recruiting tool we've been neglecting who could assemble whatever dream team we liked because of him was particularly cringe. I didn't disagree with a ton of what he said, but a few things just simply aren't based in reality.

This is 100% aaron rodgers, and he's unaware of this part I think. Ha, just what I was thinking.

Supposedly.....or media report have it at least....that as far back as Ted's days, a common pitch to free agents was "come play with AR.....compete for SBs" Edited July 28, 2021 by Leader

Like if he actually thinks people should take way less just to play on his team Dear Aaron, Two years ago the organization gave you a 4 year extension making you the highest paid QB/player in the league. The MVP (bonus) you expected was baked into the equation! That contract came with the expectation of an MPV season or two! PS: you still owe us a Championship because that too was baked into the payday!

Problems with compensating older players nearing their way out have to be tied to his percentage of the cap. Perhaps the org could have been “more personable” to these players, and I would listen to the details of that argument all day, but I think his reaction was many times overblown compared to what he’s telling us his concerns are. I do it when I'm fired up. 2. It's my favorite punctuation. 😀 I purposely used different emoji's because the laugh until I cry is my favorite one too.

He is telling us that Rodgers has always had input. I am not saying he is being disingenuous to Rodgers, but I think that has been pretty clear. With your comparison, I don't think it is a great one. I think Rodgers' opinion on locker room leaders and who he is throwing to is more of a direct link to Gute telling Rodgers hopw to play QB when he has won 3 MVPs and has an offensive head coach, OC and QB coach who do that. I don’t think Gute is disingenuous with Rodgers or fans. I think he had a blind spot with Rodgers/players based on the philosophy of building and managing a team. And with the fans he is trying to be honest without being 100% transparent. A lot of omissions of details. We talked to Aaron on draft day. Leaving out did that come before or after the pick. That’s not disingenuous in my eyes... that being corporate/professional and understanding once talking to Aaron that there is going to be a maelstrom. As for the blind spot with Aaron... again don’t believe Gute is disingenuous with listening to players, not just Aaron. I’m sure he has the open door policy. I think the issue is becomes if you don’t give people “wins” there is the perception you are disingenuous. Yeah... you have this policy but you just do what you want to 100%. I think Gute has a good case for every choice he has made, but Rodgers will never get to see that because just listening and talking isn’t enough in any relationship... actions are required. It’s never going to be enough for Rodgers to have a seat at the table... some of his ideas need to be implemented for him to feel like they are listening. I think Gute listens and is willing to. I just think it’s hard for someone in his position to go against his own gut on these issues. And that’s his blind spot. That’s why I think the term implementation was used. Because it’s not just enough to listen or literally have Rodgers in FAs meetings... they have to at some point give that devil it’s due.

I have a hard time how you can't at least understand his position after watching that. Right. A lot of respect for 12 there even if you disagree with some of his thoughts. Personally, I think he's a little overboard on the "Packers treat veterans poorly and don't offer them deals, etc." and Silverstein hit him with a great question about being wrong on some of those deals had they been made. On the other hand, I am 150% behind 12 on the fact that he should be included more in discussions regarding players. I've been saying that for years. 12 is literally the most attractive non-money aspect for players to come to Green Bay. That should be a no-brainer and it was time for 12 to publicly call the FO out on that today.

Seriously? Talk about indulgent. I'm not buying it. That just seem way too over the top.

If you want to be this recruiting tool for team success, than make a sacrifice or two to do so. Maybe he'd be more willing to consider that if consulted but he's done nothing to increase his own value in that role throughout his career.
