Other than having to trade for an old declining slot receiver with an outrageous contract, you mean?

or a year of team control

Actually, word today from Gute is that Rodgers is still under contract through 2023. So looks like it wasn't voided after all.

Only concession appears to be trading a 6th to pay Randall Cobb $3mil in 2021.

And there's some very good reasons why that is an attractive move regardless. Wouldn't have happened if Rodgers didn't lobby for it and Cobb agreed to a pay cut AND Houston agreed to eat $3million themselves for that pick. But nevertheless, Rodgers restructured to save $9.5mil, and team used that to sign Cobb and Kelly yesterday.

Looks like a win-win to me.

https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2021/07/29/report-packers-aaron-rodgers-reworked-deal-is-done/

"General Manager Brian Gutekunst told reporters on Thursday that Rodgers still will have three years left on his contract “at the moment,” and that “we may alter that.” It is not yet known exactly what was altered in the contract"

This language would allow GB to trade Rodgers after the 2022 season as well, but Gute was being a literalist when he responded since the revision hasn't been signed yet.

Yeah he's saying that since the revised deal hasn't been signed yet, he's still under contract for 3 years but the revised contract "may change that".

And we know the revised deal that is currently offered to Rodgers voids that season.

So appropriate

The hobbling two-time NFL MVP threw three touchdown passes in the second half after returning from injury, and the Green Bay Packers overcame a 20-point deficit for a thrilling 24-23 win over the Chicago Bears on Sunday night.

A Chicago defense featuring newly acquired star linebacker Khalil Mack dominated until the third quarter.
