Way back in November of 2017, we heard the NBA and the players’ union were discussing the possibility of adjusting draft eligibility rules with an eye toward eliminating that one-and-done path. The Commission on College Basketball subsequently issued a report this past April recommending that the one-and-done rule be altered or eliminated. While that appears likely to happen at some point, a July report indicated it wouldn’t occur until at least 2021 — now we know we’ll have to wait at least one additional year beyond that.

If and when the NBA opens the door for players to enter the draft out of high school, that draft year figures to be flooded with top prospects. For instance, if it happens in 2022, the top high school grads of that year would join that season’s top college freshman in the ’22 draft class. As such, the league would prefer to give teams plenty of notice for when it will happen.

Hasn't Emoni lost a little bit of luster in the last year?

If you add the top 2 players from the projected 2023 class and add it to the top 3 or 4 of the 22 class, it should make it stronger.  I wouldn't be shocked that it gets even stronger if the rules is changed.

I am guessing its a good thing he has some time to work on combine type things but you can't fix wingspan and hand size.  But that vert is the same as Luka Garza and the sprint is .2 slower than Garza.  Not a good look for a generational prospect.

If those numbers are real then he's outside my top 5 and maybe even my top 10.

He has worse measurements than Luke Garza, that can't be right. That's not even Division 1 worthy...

The Andrew Wiggins effect, he received way too much hype early on because he was so much better than everyone his age early on but then other guys caught up. I mean he shot under 40% in both AAU and HS ball last season.

Regardless though does it really matter that much? Do you think Cade Cunningham would've tested well at the combine last year? What about Luka Doncic? I'm sure his numbers will be better at the actual combine, he's 17 years old and just got to campus a couple of weeks ago. The appeal of Emoni Bates was never that he was this freak, jump out of the gym athlete. It's always been based around the fact that he's 6'9" with guard skills. The lack of length isn't ideal but he's still going to ball this season. Hell if your teams don't want him, we'll happily take him in Utah.

Durant’s vertical jump was 33.5 inches, a half-inch less than Oden’s vertical. He completed the agility drill in 12.33 seconds, which was slower than Oden who completed it in 11.67 seconds. And it took him 3.45 seconds to finish a three-quarter-court sprint, which was, again, slower than Oden who finished it in 3.27 seconds. He was also the only prospect that failed to lift 185 pounds even once. According to a Seattle Times report released about a week after the draft, Durant’s overall combine performance ranked 78th out of the 80 players who were in attendance.
