Yeah, whoever made my posts and turned it into its own thread is probably made the right decision, especially with all the rumors about Luka not being happy and all the change they made this offseason with letting Carlisle and Nelson go.

Mavericks should be okay for now, but the next few years and the moves they make will determine if they can keep him happy and the team competitive enough for him to want to spend his whole career there like Dirk did. Don't love making Jason Kidd head coach, but the Nico Harrison hire is interesting. Mavs didn't really do much this offseason, but we'll see who he can pull in future offseasons.

He's ugly and rid Patty's coattails to a bronze and will ride Donovan's coattails to another 2nd round exit next year.

In the Bronze Medal game...

Joe Inges: 16 points, 9 rebounds, 4 assists, 3 turnovers on 6/12 FG, +11

Luka Doncic: 22 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 8 turnovers on 7/20 FG, -16

Who have been to the 2nd round 3 times with him in the rotation. How many star players were flocking to Dallas to play with Dirk again?

This is a Luka thread. Not Ingles. Take it to the offseason thread.

And, they have Nico with the connections to try and convince a star players to come play with Luka. Dirk ain't have Nico Harrison in his corner.

They offered Kyle Lowry $100M and he chose to go to Miami. The Mavericks are already sitting at $108M in salary for '22-23 with Luka, THJ, KP, Bullock, and Powell.

Miami went to a Finals a year ago and he just lived in Florida this past year.

They'll probably have to trade KP unless he bounces back.

How often do guys sign with teams because of their great GM? It's typically because of their relationships with players on the team and the fact that they want to play together. Wade, Bosh, and LeBron discussed it while playing together for team USA and all structured their contracts in the same way so that they would be free agents at the same time. The Nets were one of the worst run franchises in the league and were able to land Kyrie/Durant/Harden because they're friends and wanted to play together. Kyle Lowry literally said one of the main reasons he signed with Miami is because Jimmy Butler is one of his best friends dating back to their time together on the Olympic team. Anthony Davis wanted to play with the Lakers because of his relationship with LeBron and Klutch Sports.

Dallas gave THJ a 4 yr/$75M contract, Bullock a 3 yr/$30M contract, Luka a 5 yr/$205M extension, and were ready to blow their load and give Kyle Lowry a 3 yr/$100M contract. That to me doesn't scream that they're confident they'll be major players in free agency next summer when the big boys are set to hit the open market. I mean as I said they're already almost at the cap limit with 5 players under contract. And to trade KP they'd either have to take back matching salaries or give up picks for someone to take his contract.

On the opposite end of that spectrum you have the Celtics who were extremely conservative this off-season. They dumped Kemba Walkers contract, didn't extended Marcus Smart, and let Evan Fouriner walk in free agency. Why? Because they want to have the cap space to sign Brad Beal next off-season, lol. Beal was reportedly going to request a trade then didn't and the only 3 teams he was rumored to be willing to sign long term extensions with were the Warriors, 76ers, and Celtics. The Celtics didn't have the assets to acquire him without giving up Brown so he literally said I'll give Washington another year and see what we can do. They're the only team of the 3 that can actually acquire him via FA next summer. Just so happens that his childhood best friend Jayson Tatum also plays for that team and you posted earlier about Tatum wanting him to get a medal and Tatum was talking about them playing together in the Olympics as such a special opportunity, lol.

The Heat always seemed to be Lowry’s preference entering free agency. Playing for Miami appealed to him and Lowry revealed Friday that his close friendship with Butler was a big factor in his free agent decision.

“Me and Jimmy, we’ve been talking about this for a long time now,” Lowry said. “He kind of was continuing to chirp about it and talk to me about it. But as a true friend, it doesn’t matter what decision I made, he was going to support me. But he was really on me about coming to the Heat and kind of fulfilling some things that we talked about before and trying to possibly play together.”

Butler and Lowry played together as Team USA teammates on the squad that won gold in Brazil in the 2016 Olympics. Lowry expects their on-court chemistry with the Heat to be “fiery.”

Kevin Durant was getting ready to commit to the Brooklyn Nets, along with his good friends Kyrie Irving and DeAndre Jordan. They'd all grown close in 2016 with the United States Olympic Team and had talked often about playing with one another someday. All that remained was for free agency to officially open on the evening of June 30.

George was flattered by Leonard's recruiting. The two had a fair amount in common. They'd grown up in the Los Angeles area at about the same time. George, 29, is from Palmdale, a dusty desert town about an hour and a half north of L.A. Leonard, 28, is from Riverside, a sprawling Inland Empire town about an hour and a half east of L.A. Both had been lightly recruited out of high school, found their footing as players at mid-major colleges (George at Fresno State, Leonard at San Diego State) and then quietly entered the NBA as mid-first-round picks.

The groundwork for this move was laid even before 2008, as James, Wade and Bosh all signed three-year rookie scale extensions instead of the five-year max that their fellow 2003 draftmate Carmelo Anthony had signed with the Denver Nuggets, which left him out of the equation, leaving the other three to timely hit free agency together in 2010.

Multiple NBA general managers have told ESPN that they have privately expressed frustration with what they call “tampering” on the part of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James.

James recently told ESPN’s Dave McMenamin that the possibility of the Lakers acquiring New Orleans Pelicans star Anthony Davis would be “amazing” and “incredible.” Several GMs say those comments violate the league’s bylaws.

According to the LA Times’ Broderick Turner, Westbrook met with Anthony Davis and LeBron at James’ home two weeks ago. There, they discussed teaming up together on the Lakers.

Turner reports that the players agreed to put their egos aside in the interest of pursuing a championship. For instance, James and Davis expressed a willingness to play different positions if necessary. Westbrook said he was willing to play off the ball when James wanted to handle the rock.

ESPN Sources with @RamonaShelburne and @ZachLowe_NBA: As Houston’s James Harden considers his future with franchise, one possible trade destination is rising to top of his list: Brooklyn. The idea of reuniting with Kevin Durant and joining Kyrie Irving is resonating with Harden

LeBron James has reached out to Minnesota Timberwolves All-Star forward Kevin Love and expressed a desire for them to play together in Cleveland, front-office sources told Yahoo Sports.

Love is enthusiastic about the idea of teaming with James on the Cleveland Cavaliers, sources said. James’ decision to sign only a two-year contract that affords him the option of again becoming a free agent at the end of next season has not tempered Love’s interest in joining James on the roster.

I recruited KD really, really hard. And it was like the equivalent of a college coach trying to get a top-five recruit—although I would've broke every NCAA rule there was, because I called him a million times. I text him a million and one times. And I tried to show up wherever he was every chance I got.

When I found out he was coming, I came back to my senses, and I said, "I wonder if he respects me as a man now, the way I just blew his phone up." He had to have a girlfriend who got on his nerves worse than that before. So, I questioned myself.
