Sugashane
Oh snap! Peters isnt what he was, but still is an upgrade over Wilkinson and a vet leader we haven't had on the OL in years. He'll be good for Jenkins to be around when he is at full health.
Heinz D.
Huh. Isn't Peters still injured? Either way, probably a good signing.

HuskieBear
pace saw 1 game of our o-line, and what fields could do, and immediately got on the phone with peter's agent as soon as the game ended

Madmike90
Peters will one day probably be in the HoF...his experience would be a plus even if these guys were healthy...we obviously don't want him starting but I have no issues even at 39 years old with him as depth and most importantly a teacher to these young tackles.

And the Opening Day lineup there should be much better than what was trotted out today.
WindyCity
This is insurance, and good insurance at that, if Borom can’t take the LT spot and run. This is probably bad news for Jenkin
soulman
I guess Okung wouldn't jump at a lowball offer. Peters got $4.05 mil gtd in 2020 and $5.5 mil gtd/$6 mil total in 2019. Anyone want to take a stab at what Pace offered him? Also, whose gonna get released if anyone to accommodate Peters cap hit? Even at age 38 + I'm far more content having Peters playing LT than Wilkinson and he is coming to play not just as depth. When asked if Peters was joining the team as a backup, Bears coach Matt Nagy was definitive: "No. He's coming in here to compete to be the left tackle." I suspected earlier this past week that Jenkins' back issue was far more serious than the Bears had indicated. I'd begin getting prepared to seeing him placed on IR which will keep him out until at least October. Our "prize OT" isn't looking like as much of a prize right now. EDIT: Of course it does Matt! Are you asking us to believe that if Jenkins was practicing and looking like he could handle LT we would have signed a 38 + year old guy who missed 1/3 of his games over the past 3-4 years? Nagy is almost as good at lying as Tucker Carlson and TFG......LOL. I'm not upset we signed him but stop trying to blow smoke up our *****. “It really doesn’t have anything to do with Teven,” coach Matt Nagy said. “It’s more about familiarity with a guy that’s played in this league for a long time and been very good.” Edited August 15, 2021 by soulman
soulman
Starting LT or paid player coach? Maybe both but either way it can't hurt. Former Eagles All-Pro OT Jason Peters signs one-year deal with Bears By Erin Walsh | Last updated 8/14/21 https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/former_eagles_all_pro_ot_jason_peters_signs_one_year_deal_with_bears/s1_13132_35622434?utm_source=mb&utm_medium=email&mb_edition=20210815&mb_loc=right_h The Chicago Bears have signed former Philadelphia Eagles offensive tackle Jason Peters to a one-year deal, his agent Vince Taylor announced via Twitter on Saturday. The 39-year-old spent the past 12 seasons with the Eagles, with whom he earned seven of his nine Pro Bowl selections. Peters' deal with the Bears reunites him with offensive line coach Juan Castillo, a former offensive line coach and defensive coordinator for the Eagles. After playing eight games last season, Peters was placed on injured reserve in December with a toe injury that required surgery. He has appeared in only 44 of a possible 64 games since 2017 due to several injuries. The Arkansas product said in March that he had plans to play an 18th NFL season, particularly to help young players develop. "I don't know about 'a whole lot,' but I still got some in the tank, and I can definitely show some of the young guys how to play the game of football," he said, according to NFL.com. "You can know the X's and O's, but I'm gonna be the one to stay with 'em after practice and show 'em how to really play the game, the technique, and the things about the detail of the football game throughout the course of the season." dll2000
I hope they at least did a physical before they signed him. If they did and he is in shape it was a decent signing, but no way can this guy play 17 games.
