DreamKid
@Ray Reed Yea, most of it is just difference of opinion at this point. Interesting discussion regardless. What we can all agree on though, is that we want/need everyone on this team to play much better in 2022 and it's imperative that we bring in some big talent through this draft class. This is the highest pick EDC has had as the Ravens' official GM too, so pressure is on.

I don't know if that's a great pick for us value wise at this point, but I certainly understand how perfect the fit is. It'd essentially be like plugging a baby Pernell McPhee with more juice and upside into our defense. A month later and Walker's stock is rising so fast he's almost being talked about like a Top 10 exclusive player, and his ceiling might be in the stratosphere. He's one to watch with us for sure, perfect fit for our front. Very much in line with the other early round picks of EDC thus far too. Big program, really young(turned 21 in Dec), super athlete, red star quality.

ravens5520
Yeah Travon put eyes on him from that combine for sure. Don’t see him making it to 14. 😔
Ray Reed
I see it as a win-win. Travon proving his insane athleticism gives us another good option to go at 14 at a position of need. If he’s just priced himself above 14, however, that could push a Gardner/Cross/Stingley/Johnson down to us who are all great prospects at positions of need

EDGE, even with Walker's interior versatility(could play 5T or 3T for us), is a luxury when compared to our need at OL.
Ray Reed
I have a feeling the Ravens could shock us and take an ILB much earlier than we expect considering it’s not necessarily a need. But I could see a scenario where they take Devin Lloyd in R1, or a Christian Harris/Quay Walker/Chad Muma day 2 because of how highly they have them ranked relative to the other guys available at that point. I wouldn’t absolutely hate it considering they moved Harrison to OLB towards the end of last year and our ILBs behind Queen are old (Bynes) and coming off injury (Fort). Would certainly be a surprise though considering the direction the league is moving to have 2 ILBs with that level of investment. diamondbull424
Travon Walker is cool and all, really like his tape, but I found George Karlaftis to be younger, still athletic, and a superior pass rusher. He’s got weaknesses in his run defense, but I’d rather develop a guy as a run defender than to have to develop them as a pass rusher. If we don’t trade down for an OL, nor draft a CB; George Karlaftis fits the mold of young ascending athletic talents that we’ve gone for in the first round the past few seasons. He’s got flaws but his technique and hand fighting is top shelf, I’d feel very confident with our pass rush having him and Oweh leading the charge. I’m more confident in GK developing into a perennial pro bowl type than Walker, even though both are still very young. 7 hours ago, DreamKid said: I really don't want us to pick Jordan Davis, but I guess with these numbers I can convince myself there's some pass rush/disruption upside to be mined out of him. It’s becoming more and more plausible. Maybe once I watch the tape again, I’ll go back to feeling the same way, but after this combine it’s hard to deny the potential. I mean even if he’s not getting sacks but could provide sort of a more explosive version of what Calais Campbell has provided the last few seasons, that alone would be of significant value. If he could be 5-7 sack guy, the pick would be definitely worth it considering his other strengths he brings to the table.

DreamKid
Finally got around to watching EDC's combine presser. 3 Key takeaways: 1. It doesn't seem like we're close to a deal with Lamar. The phrase "I have his number and he has mine" isn't one synonymous with progress in negotiations. He also didn't sound too confident regarding the status of Calais Campbell. 2. DeCosta said the class is deep at OL, EDGE, and CB. Stressed though, that you can get a CB at any point in the draft. 3. As @wackywabbit has pointed out recently, there is no question regarding Marcus Peter's status with this team. He's here to stay.
DreamKid
Looks like, barring a trade down, our draft day decision will come down to picking the BPA who will most likely be a Top 10-15 defensive talent that falls or slightly reaching for a Top 20-25 OL talent. Ray Reed
Commanders trading for a QB makes it that less likely a guy we really want falls to 14 (i.e. a Walker, Cross, Gardner, Johnson) Assuming they’re not taking a QB at 11 at this point Edited March 10, 2022 by Ray Reed
Ray Reed
I’m starting the “McDuffie at 14 if we don’t trade down” train. Think he has both a very high floor and ceiling.
