Trentwannabe
Week 1 The Last 5: 2020: Pittsburgh 15 @ Buffalo 262019: Buffalo 17 @ Pittsburgh 102016: Pittsburgh 27 @ Buffalo 202013: Buffalo 10 @ Pittsburgh 232010: Pittsburgh 19 @ Buffalo 16 OT The Bills have won two straight but the Steelers still own the all time series lead 16-11. Fun Facts: Sean McDermott and Mike Tomlin were college teammates. McDermott is 2-0 against Tomlin. This will be the third straight season the Steelers and Bills meet. Hasn't happened since 1992-96. Bills LB Tremaine Edmunds is the younger brother of Steelers S Terrell Edmunds. Quick Analysis: The Bills are returning every starter on offense and defense from last season with potential upgrades at Guard, DL and outside WR. By all accounts out of camp and the 3rd pre-season game, the offense is rolling and picking up where they left off last season. Josh Allen is an early MVP favorite. The Bills secondary has always been good to great under McDermott and Frazier and now they potentially have waves of a pass rush in front of them with Hughes, Epenesa, Addison and Roussea. This team has all the makings of not only a Super Bowl Contender but a Super Bowl winner. It all starts Sunday against a Pittsburgh team looking to make one last run behind Big Ben. The Steelers OL is in shambles and a lot of guys look to be playing out of position which could cause a lot of issues up front. Rookie RB Najee Harris is a special player and was a fan favorite among Bills fans leading up to the draft. If the Bills are able to slow him down and not let him get going they could run away with this game. Pittsburgh has an interesting trio at WR but each comes with their blemishes. Defensively the Steelers may be without TJ Watt due to a contract situation. Cameron Heyward will be an early test for the Bills interior and the Steelers secondary can be very opportunistic. Allen will need to be smart and decisive with the ball. Prediction: The Bills are at home in front of a sold out crowd that hasn't really seen the team live since 2019 and the continuity from top to bottom is nearly unmatched. What Steeler team is showing up? The one that started 11-0 or the one who got absolutely embarrassed by the Browns in the playoffs and lost 4 of their last 5? My guess is somewhere in between and a team that won't be able to go blow for blow with the Bills. Bills 28 Steelers 14.

soflbillsfan
It is going to be a fun match up. It will be interesting how the dline handles the Steelers offense. It will likely be a run heavy offense with Najee getting the bulk of the carries the key is shutting him down and having Ben throw the ball as much as possible. His arm is starting to get weaker as we saw more and more as the season went on. With no huge changes to the passing game they still have Diontae who may continue the case of the drops and Juju who tends to focus more on dancing/ celebrating then working on his game. If these two guys put the work in they may have a better wr corps then last year but outside of this they really havent brought in a big threat on offense especially going from veterans who worked on the oline to new young guys who are averaging 4-5 starts in their career. As you mention on their defense they may be without watt, as of today no new contract and he has yet to practice in team reps. While he has been at camp as he would be fined with new rules it is stated he expects to not play until an extension is being offered. If that is true they have 4 days to get it done and the media said they arent close. They made a late offseason trade in Schoebert which I do not see as a massive upgrade to last years LB corps, the one key contributor that is coming back is Bush. Another key thing to look at is Joe Haden will be playing in which he did not last year. Diggs made Steven Nelson a joke as he had him on skates the entire game and they no longer really have a #2 corner outside of haden. I expect Sanders, Beasley, and Davis to eat well this game and push the corners. If Allen can continue to do his thing and the bills defense shuts the run down early it should be the bills game to be had.
BillsGuy82
I think both teams will score some points here. I like our WR over there secondary. Need to give Allen some protection from Watt and Dupree. Prediction Bills- 27 Steelers -

Also Bud Dupree is on the Titans now. You might want to get a new sports almanac ha.

While players are forced to be at practice to prevent the high fines for skipping they are put on the sideline to work on their own and just show up to meetings but he hasnt been in team practices which contact is involved. Apparently his agent is saying he will sit out if he doesnt get a new deal done and the steelers are said to be only offering him the first year of guarantees and nothing beyond that. Even if watt does play he only has a total of 0.5 sacks in the 2 games he played vs buffalo. Heyward will be the issue on the line as he can sometimes a quiet threat. Overall bills did a great job last year as they only gave up 1 sack and getting ford back in which he didnt play last year and morse is 100% as he didnt play the entire game last year either. Not to mention the bills will have Sanders in while they were with out brown last year. Edited September 7, 2021 by soflbillsfan

They do have Melvin Engram right now so your point about protection for Allen still stands lol

Trentwannabe
Sucks that a somewhat freak injury is going to keep him out this week. It’s a big game for Harrison Phillips. My guess is when Stevenson is back from IR it’s a DT we end up dumping.
