Well that sucks.  He has been pretty awful and this sure won't help.  More people come back from this injury than 10 years ago but he needs to come back and be better, which usually doesnt happen.  Maybe he can make a move to safety after this which may benefit him dramatically.

The statistics I read in the Free Press article do not give me hope that he will return from this

Man...this is brutal news. Our secondary was already super thin, and we really needed this season to see if any of those guys (espeecially Okudah) could develop and improve.

You can't pencil him in for anything other than a depth role for next year now.

As @Sllim Pickens mentioned, a move to safety could revitalize his career.

And a study published by the American Orthopaedic Foot & Ankle Society in 2017 reported that of the 78 Achilles tendon ruptures suffered by pro football players in the 2010-2015 NFL seasons, 26% of the players never played football again and those who did suffered a 23% net decrease in their approximate on-field value.

Guessing thats what you mean.  And I agree that is not overly promising, hence the suggested move to S I mentioned above.  Some big time athletes have come through after injuring it though like Kevin Durant so there is hope.  But it is slight hope IMO.

He could still make the switch to Safety.  He might actually be a better fit for that.

Never believed in the kid ever. So, disappointing to hear but I never expected anything from Okudah. This was just his year to prove he can be cut... With this injury, he might of bought himself another year to linger around.

In FFMD this year we had a rouge trade for a 3rd rdp and a WR. I wonder how many people would take that trade now knowing what we know now? o.O But, it's why FFMD sucks, mod mentality with the same small circle of posters.

Epic failure for a draft pick. One of the worst in the last... idk, 10-15 years easily.

He might be a complete bust when all is said and done but Okudah was the near consensus CB1 for the 2020 draft season.

If you weren't pro-Okudah, you would have been one of the few. Just because you were right in this case doesn't mean anything. A broken clock is right twice a day.

Herbert was not as highly regarded during the draft process as he is now viewed. Stafford had also not indicated he wanted out. It is really easy to be right in hindsight. None of this held true at the time.

Same small circle of posters? That trade was a complete joke throughout the entirety of FFMD. (It was even mocked months later during a different football exercise.) You've conveniently ignored that Michael Gallup, the other "piece" in that trade that's due a massive pay raise, was just placed on IR by the Cowboys with a calf injury. So, even with the benefit of hindsight, Okudah is worth far more than a 3rd and Gallup.

The issue wasn't only the trade, of course, but the fact that the GM never even consulted the other members of the Lions' forum when pulling the trigger. That was the part that bothered the other members of the Lions' FFMD staff.

Unfortunately you may well be proven right. It really sets a team back when you miss on high picks. The teams running backs and secondary are snake bit historically.

A lot of people had a problem with him at 3. You just sided with the brain-trust Lions had and believed in people who didn't know what they're doing. Okudah was only selected cause Diggs/Slay were traded who were some of our better players...

I actually wanted Simmons to pair with Kennard but they cut Kennard, and signed Collins.

Broken clock is right twice a day.

More so then not believing in Okudah I didn't think he had a shot with that staff or living up to the 3rd overall. I actually thought he might be a starting CB but to pick a CB 3rd overall... they need to be Deon Sander, Patrick Peterson, Jalen Ramsey. He just wasn't that guy to me. I wasn't sure he'd be better than Slay which was a problem being selected at 3.

I called him a one year wonder then Slim dropped some PFF stats and highlighted even more how good Ohio State defense was vs basically every other team they played. Wideouts often weren't NFL quality with maybe the top pass rush/front seven in all of college football. No one wanted to notice who he played against, or how the other CB's on his own team compared to him numbers wise. If you just looked hard there anyone could of seen that all Ohio State Db's had really good/ borderline elite PFF numbers.

I still wouldn't have done the deal without the injury, not matter what.  An injury always changes opinions and I might consider it now but it was foolish at the time. You can't predict injuries and if it was any injury other than an Achilles, I would not trade him for a 3rd.
