But I do feel like McVay is going to have an array plays set-up to brilliatly counter our D-Line's aggressive nature to get upfield. They're going to view Stafford as a sitting duck back there and McVay's going to use that to his advantage. Hopefully Ryans has settled in by then but I'm not holding my breath. I'm definitely not expecting a win though. Stafford is going to rip us to shreds. We dont play them until MNF on 11/15, so A LOT can happen between now and then, but yeah, they are going to kick our ***, especially if JG is still starting for us. Weve beaten them the past couple years on the back of a dominant defense and an offense who did "enough". Now? "enough" wont be enough. Will need to score 40 on them

He was my comp for Mac Jones' movement skills. Not great when breaking the pocket, very similar athletically, and it's mostly their movement skills within the pocket and their ability to manipulate the pocket that makes not a statue. It's underrated for sure.

N4L
With the amount of times our DL gets held, and the amount of times our OL gets manhandled on the interior (looking at you alex mack), I think its time that we just start holding. I would rather have a 1st and 23 than a 2nd and 16 after a sack. Hold the DLman. If they call it, who cares, we still have another play to make up the yards. If they dont, then great, we just got away with one. Its like what seattles secondary used to do many years ago. They arent going to call holding on every play (or when its blatant against our DL), so if you get beat, hold the guy. Does any other DL get held as much as ours? Feels like 2-3 blatant holds get missed every damn game.

In the opening game, Dallas held TB's DL all game long but didn't get called for it until the 4th quarter.

GW21
People seems really doom and gloom about this loss. It's not like we went out and laid an egg against the Jags or something. We lost a tight game against a future HoF QB who is still playing like he's 25. I don't think we need to be crazy panicked yet. These next couple of weeks will be a good measuring stick though.

It's the underlying performance. The score shouldn't have been as close as it was - Green Bay settled for field goals in positions where they could push us for more, we got a touchdown before half on a special teams play, and most importantly we were whomped in yards per play - about 6 to about 4.5. And we turned the ball over 2 more times than they did. If not for things like punting and kickoff returns and coaches decisions, we get swacked. And it's two weeks in a row the offense has averaged around 4.5 yards per play. Even with Kittle and Deebo and Aiyuk and co. That's less than last year's Adam Gase Jets. Against two defenses that have some talent, but haven't performed all that great against non-49er teams. The defense (to quickly generalize), I think everyone more or less gets. They are hamstrung by personnel decisions and injuries. They could do a couple of things better, but it's rough out there. But with a full cast outside of running backs, the offense has to be better. Even with running back injuries. Even with Jimmy limitations and Trey teething pains. Edited September 30, 2021 by JIllg

We look very pedestrian offensively. Defensively I'm more frustrated. Even with the losses@CB we have more than enough talent. We should be performing better, especially on 3rd downs. Some of it is Ryans and his approach on some of these down & distance situations. Some of it is simply guys aren't winning thier one-on-ones in crucial moments. I've seen better 49ers teams with better offenses stink at least two games in a row. Concerning, but not the Armageddon.
