The play calling was atrocious. How on God's green earth do you throw a pass that when caught, requires the WR to run 3 yards just to get out of the end zone? Why not line him up on the line of scrimmage and let him run two steps up field before making the catch for 3 or 4 yard gain?

I simply don't understand the disconnect. When you are trying to run a QB sneak, use a spread formation to create gaps in the d-line. I knew the 4th down plunge was not going to work as soon as I saw how crowded the line of scrimmage was.

What the hell is wrong with our offensive coaching staff?

Notes:

- That screen pass in our own endzone. Wtf? Terrible play call and momentum killer. Not a fan of this co-OC experience so far.

- Coleman has been bad. On the wrong end of many important plays. Wonder what his snap count is compared to Needham but they should lower it.

- OL looked better. Maybe last week was an abberation but i was surprised at the step forward they took as a unit. Still leaving a lot to be desired but this was a good DL they went against and they gave Brissett enough time on most plays.

- Pass rush was pretty good in the first half. Was pretty much non-existant in second half.

- Malcolm Brown is our short yardage specialist who can't gain short yards. Obviously OL factors here but come on bro.

- We allowed too many big plays. At some point it felt like every deep shot they took that wasn't out of bounds was a completion. We didn't have that luxury. Peyton Barber (who?) with 111 yards, 4.8 avg per carry. Not good enough

- Brissett looked fine. He is what he is but he kept us in it and put the team on his back at the end of regulation and in OT. Couldn't really ask for more from our backup QB

So the Raiders had 10 plays of 23yds or more and we had 2. Yeah, that's a problem on both sides of the ball.

Analysis of the stupidest play in the Universe (LOL)!!!!

Miami Dolphins QB Jacoby Brissett’s safety is unlike anything the world has ever seen - The Phinsider

It's a mirror concept with the only exception being the inline TE at the top of the LOS ( might be Hunter Long 84 ).  Hunter Long is actually the only player that is somewhat open, at least open enough for a probably 5-6 yard gain.  It appears Brissett makes his decision pre snap to throw to Waddle, but instead of just catching and throwing he takes a step back, a hop, a big wind up and then throws .......... in the meantime Waddle ( just like the wide out at the bottom of the play ) turns his shoulders and hips towards the QB.  This shoulder and hip turn telegraphs the play to the Corner and he immediately drives on it.  Long should have been the pre snap read by Brissett, but the play is still a poor design IMO.

Some are claiming this is a screen play, but that is incorrect.  It is not a screen play but is designed to spread out the Defense and get one on one matchups with either the slot receivers running the out and up or the inline TE matched against a LB on the 3 yard dump.  The play actually worked (although I still hate the design) with the TE underneath getting a favorable matchup.  Brissett just makes a horrible pre snap decision and takes forever to get the ball out.  Regardless, overall Brissett is playing admirably all things considered.

Always nice watching a game-winning TD pass go through the arms of a bigtime WR we just signed.

I do think there was interference on the play but no way they are making that call. Regardless this game wasn't at all the result of bad calls/non calls etc. Safety, missed fg, wad ball on the 3rd and 4th down conversion attempt. Raiders are a good team though, no shame in losing to them. We were competitive and that is better than I feared we would be after last weeks embarrassment.

Snap count from yesterday's game.

Few notables:

- Coleman only had 25 snaps. I thought it would've been more but that may be because he was burnt on a few occasions and hasn't looked good this season so he pops up a lot. May want to lower his snaps and give Igbo a shot in the slot.

- Jalen Phillips had more snaps than Van Ginkel. Don't mind this because AVG hasn't exactly been very impactful and would rather Phillips get meaningful snaps to develop.

- Only 5 snaps for Ahmed. We're really not using this kid to his full potential. He is our quickest and shiftiest back, guess his pass blocking is really a liability. Brown had 34 snaps

So many thoughts:

1.  That play that resulted in a safety was as stupid as Pete Carroll not giving the ball to Marshawn Lynch.

2.  Also a terrible play call, but not getting enough criticism, is the stupid shovel pass to Gesicki on 3rd and 3 in OT.  What the actuall hell was that?  Quit playing for a tie and try to win the dang thing!

3.  Way too many big plays allowed by the D.

4.  Justin Coleman was terrible.

5.  Austin Jackson is not a good LT.  Like at all.

6.  Jaylen Waddle is one of the most explosive football players in the entire league.  So let's keep sending him on 5 yard routes over the middle.

7.  Eichenberg wasn't great, but he was a clear improvement over Davis.  Crosby is a really good DE and he limited him for the most part.

8.  Brissett wasn't good, but he definitely showed some grit at the end of the game.  Fun to watch.

9.  I don't know how no Raiders could catch up to Elandon Roberts on that pick-6.  Dude was gimping his way down the field with what appeared to be a piano attached to his back.

10.  Jaelon Phillips needs to hit the weight room.

11.  Despite all this nonsense, this team was still screwed out of an OT win due to not calling PI on this play:

That's 1st and goal from the 1 with a TD to win it.  Ouch.  Not that the Fins deserved to win, mind you.  But it still stings.

It honestly doesn't sting for me, If Miami had done their job (looking at you, whichever OC you are, and Brissett) they wouldn't have to hope the refs do theirs. I am not convinced they get in from the 1, nor am I convinced, that had he not been interfered with Fuller makes that catch. True the refs should have called it, but missed calls are a part of the game.

It is the calls Miami had control over and chose to make during the game that irk me. This loss is on the coaching staff.

Flores downfall will be the inability to hire great coordinators and not being able to build a top offensive linemen, this is year 3 and looks like another failing grade in these areas. I give somewhat a pass on the QB situation as that is a harder fix than the other two but at some point when are you considered a failure when the same problems exists season after season and do not seem to get corrected. I know everyone has there opinion but if Miami misses on an opportunity to get  Deshaun Watson that will go down as a big of a miss as Drew Brees in my opinion.

I am pro Flores and think playoffs are still a chance this season but if that does not happen and Miami flounders to a 7 or 8 win season and no playoffs where does that leave Flores at seasons end? I understand he is only the coach and does not make all player decisions but I would think he is responsible for the coaches that are hired.
