Offense

This week we open the up the playbook a little bit more and lean more on Herbert than last week.  We plan on running majority three, four, and even 5 wr sets to lighten the box for the run game as well as getting our best pure play makers on the field. Up tempo all game as we don't think they can beat us in a shootout

Passing game

We are going to use a lot of motion this game to distinguish zone vs man coverage.  We'll look to trips one side of the field consistently     if the corner or the safety goes with we know it's man and if he stays on the opposite side it's clearly zone.

Fuller and Waddle play the outside on opposites with Cooper and Juju manning the slots.   Out of our trips in man we'll run a bunch of combo and rub routes designed to get our guys open up the seams and near the boundary as IC generally likes the or cover one looks in man. We will run some comeback  or go routes with Waddle or fuller on the single side depending on press coverage(go) or off (comeback) coverage. Once we get a CB jumping comebacks from off coverage we are gonna hit a stop and go deeply on them outside.

When we read man expect our flood and seam routes out of trips to the larger side of the field.  Two guys can't cover short medium and deep near the boundaries and Herbert has the arm strength to make them pay.   We also have WR and RB screens ready to go against overmanned sides of the field.   Herbert's job is to just hit the open man. We have plenty of talent outside and no one corner to avoid. If we get Peterson on cooper inside though in man. We plan on exploiting that

The run game today will come off of swing passes, delays, inside zones screens and outside zones. If there is heavy man coverage shown we also will run some jet sweeps with Waddle and a lot of read option with Herbert.  We'll also have include a couple qb draws to take advantage of edges pinning their ears back at the qb

We plan on playing very up tempo and tiring out whoever IC has on the field. Later in the game or short yardage we have our fresh three Donovan Smith at inline TE and Arnold at FB

Upfront we still love our offensive line and the RB will chip an edge before starting his safety net route into the flat or underneath just pass the o line vs zone

Harris continues to be the workhorse with swift seeing some third down work when needed and Williams as a fill in when tired

Tl/Dr :  spread em out and use the talent edge on the perimeters. Runnjng game to take advantage of edges going after qb

Defense

This week we are gonna channel a lot of the old Rex Ryan defensive playbook with differing formations and blitzes to confuse the qb.  We will run 3-3-5, 1-5-5, 2-4-5, and the normal nickel sets to keep our players fresh and make Tannehill make good decisions

In the 3-3-5 and 1-5-5 (4 lb, Delpit with brown at nt)  we will be overloading blitzing on most downs. With Whitworth having zero nfl games and just two bdl games at RT for his career, we want to make him make decisions. An overload also makes the ball come out quickly which should play into our favor as IC does not usually include its RB in passing plans for security blanket purposes.  The 1-5-5 will mainly be longer situations with a predator look of lb just walking around near the line.

On earlier downs we will use the regular nickel and 2-4-5.(4 lb, lve and Campbell at edge) or regular nickel (Dunlap, Tomlinson, Blacklock, Fowler up front).  We'll be making sure to funnel everything inside to the meat wall and tackling machines Milano and singleton.

We won't be assigning CB to wr today. Humphrey and Jackson take outside with Jackson inside.  Milano will have Fant unless he's blitzing which will lead to Jackson on him.

Behind the blitzing we are going to mix up man, cover two and cover three zones. We want to make Tannehill read the defense correctly then make the correct read quickly vs pressure.  With the different formations and blitz pickups in long down and distances we feel we can force him into a couple costly errors.

VS less than three wr we revert back to our normal 4-3 and cover one d with occasional blitzing. If less than three wide is the majority, we'll continue the same strategy as above in terms of mixing in zones with blitzes. Dime defense is 3-2-6 with a LB blitzing and Jackrabbit taking the slot opposite Dean.

Tl/dr -  multiple formations to confuse Tannehill, force running game inside, cause negative plays and turnovers

Ivory Coast

Motivation: Beat Rome

Offense
Primary Formation: 11 Personnel Single Back
:

We will primarily operate out of 11 personnel for this game. Rotate receivers. Josh Jones 6th offensive lineman. Jeremy McNichols serves as FB. Balanced approach.

Running Game Focus:

75-25 Chubb-Elliott. McNichols as FB when short yardage. Balance inside and outside runs. Rely on offensive line and skill of backs. Wear down defense, enable pass game to use play action to success. Control clock.

Passing Game Focus:

Leverage rotation to wear down the secondary. Leverage running back for pass protection and check-down. Offensive line should provide enough time for one of the three receivers to get open. Focus on attacking short, medium, and deep routes. Leverage balance on route tree selection. Leverage play-action pass set up by the run.

X-Factor on Offense: Balance:

We will run the ball, we will pass the ball, we will score the ball, and we will win the ball game.

Defense
Defensive Formation: 4-2-5 Defense:

4-2-5 base. Bradley Roby primary slot. Patrick Queen MLB in 7 man front when 2 WR or fewer on the field. Equal reps between Mack, Garrett, and Young. Dime back is Trevon Diggs, David will come off and White will remain as the lone backer.

Against the Pass: 50 Zone 50 Man:

We will be super unpredictable and go 50-50 on zone and man coverage. Zones will include zone blitz packages. Man will include some cover shells, though cover 0 will exist rarely. Rely on pass rush to get to the quarterback, keep coverage tight.

Against the Run:

We are going to play smart, run to the ball and wrap up the ball carrier. Our interior defensive linemen are going to be focused on clogging the middle and keeping our linebackers free, while allowing our edges to play the run on the way to the passer.

X-Factor on Defense: Hydra:

Khalil Mack, Myles Garrett, Chase Young.

Just gonna throw it out there: none of Rome's starting skill players are having a particularly good season outside of Herbert. I think ICBR is the better team, although Tannehill needs to play better going forward.

You act like his is doing better?

Cooper 19 189 yards 2 td

McLaurin 19.   231 yards. 1 td

Jaylen Waddle 22.  167.  1 td

Chase Claypool   15. 211.    0 td

Juju.   13.     118 yards   0 td

Robby Anderson. 5.   103.  1.td

Logan Thomas.  12.  117.   2 td

Noah Fant.   12.  110. 1 td

Rome

66.   591.    5.td

1. Logan Thomas isn't starting for you this week.

2. Najee Harris is averaging 3.1 YPC, which seems like kind of an important number for a running back.

3. Claypool is gaining nearly twice as many yards per reception than Jaylen Waddle.

4. Given Amari is working with a way better quarterback than McLaurin, the fact that their numbers are anywhere close to comparable is about the biggest self-own you could put out there, congratulations.

5. Robby Anderson is averaging 11 yards per reception more than JuJu Smith-Schuster. Not 11 YPR, 11 YPR on top of what JJSS is getting.

Nobody is this stupid.

Oh goody let's use yards per catch to judge wr. Guess DeSean Jackson and quez Watkins are the best two wr in football

Harris gets hit, no joke, 0.6 yards after handoff (pff Stat that seems legit)

His receivers are having massively better seasons and you know it.

Sounds like he's not having a great season then, doesn't it.
