SirA1
Camden Hood Rats Offense This week we get to take on our old buddies and former mentor Gotham. Last week they decided to not even vote for themselves, and their injury woes haven't gotten much better but we know for a fact they won't roll over in this one. Their defense is far more in tact than their offense, so they still present plenty of challenges to us. Here is how we think we can win. Balanced looks- Baker has been very efficient IRL so far this year, all while not having his full compliment of WR's and that's been by playing balanced. He excels at working the intermediate part of the field and working in play action so that's what we'll focus on against a good defense today. Our base is a 3 wide set, but except a fair amount of 2 TE stuff as well. We'll mix in 4 wide looks to expose the secondary of Gotham too, even with getting Rhodes back this week we think once we get to that 3rd CB we've got an advantage. No matter formation, expect us to keep it balanced in the pass/run ratio, 60/40 pass/run most likely. This allows us to prevent the Gotham defense from keying on anything based on formation. Ekeler and Harris will rotate the majority of the game and both can be a factor in all facets. Playaction game- Like mentioned before, Baker thrives in play action scenarios. Cooper Kupp and Gronk have been hot to start the year, so expect us to move both of them around the formation and target them on a lot of our play action passes. Gronk in the red zone has been money and we won't shy away this week either. If they commit extra resources to either man during the game, expect AJ Brown to be the recipient of extra targets from Mayfield. We think our offensive line can present sufficient enough resistance against this Gotham front to keep Ekeler and Harris running strong enough to keep these play action goals effective. Mix Fields in- Like last week, we'll sprinkle some packages in for Fields. While rookies can generally be forced into mistakes, we're going to let him do what he knows best and that's work the RPO game and keep it simple. We think the threat of Fields running can mean a Gotham defender gets occupied staring into the backfield and he can hit a weapon working past a defender from time to time. Expect around 15 plays for Fields. Defense (3-4 single high safety base) Gotham has taken on a slew of injuries to start the year, and we need to attack those areas to make sure we can put this team away. Here's how we plan to do it. Aggressively attack whoever plays QB- Whether it's Wentz and his two busted ankles, rookies Trey Lance/Mac Jones or Jimmy G, our plan today is to be incredibly aggressive in attacking that QB. Wentz is obvious, if he's hobbled and starting we want to take away his ability to stand in the pocket and deliver. Even if we don't get home, making him move in the pocket is going to be a problem. For Mac/Trey, it's simple to attack rookies and overload their brains. For Jimmy G, he's a rhythm passer would can be forced into dumb throws if he's under duress. We'll use the 3-4 to help funnel the Gotham rushing attack inside to our LB's, but also gives us more flexibility to mix in blitzes from all fronts. Allen in particular has the ability to rush and drop back so he will be integral in helping create chaos for the opposing QB today. Between our edge players and LB's in Leonard and sub guy Uche having the ability to bring pressure, we think we can mix in enough different things to really cause some havoc. Uche will sub in for Smith on obvious passing downs where he has 3 sacks in that role this season. Force anyone but Tyreek to beat us- With most of the big talent on Gotham either out or carrying an injury designation aside from Hill, we want to make sure he doesn't beat us. Ward will follow him around all game, and our single high safety will always shade to his side. He can win in a variety of ways and you can never shut him out, but with dedicating two people to him all game we think we can limit him severely. Simmons will be our high safety and Eric Rowe will reprise his usual role as the TE cover guy. If Gotham goes to 3 man looks, Smith will come off the field for a DB and Rowe keeps the TE while Leonard is responsible for the RB. If his RB is staying in to protect, expect some delayed blitzes from Leonard. Be multiple- While the 3-4 will be the majority of our looks today, we will switch to our traditional 4 man front to give our bigger DL bois some rest from time to time and to keep the Gotham QB situation uncomfortable. Majority of our coverage shells will be single high, but two man will be mixed in to keep the QB from keying in. Gotham Gashslayers OFFENSE (65% Pass 35% Run) - 1 WR/3TE/RB Base Passing Game - We are coming out in 13 Personel base this week mainly out of necessity, but we think we can move the ball well against a defense that might not be ready for such a wrinkle. With Camden likely putting a double on Reek, we find our 3 remaining receivers on the field as TEs. This should create some mismatches against puny CBs that Wentz can take advantage of. If Hill is left in single, he’s read #1. Against Robber type safety rotations, we run a deep seam with one of our TEs opposite Tyreek to take advantage of no help over the top against that route. Running Game - Again this might prove to be a successful alignment against a defense that cant really match up personnel wise. With safety attention shifted to Hill, we will use motion with our TEs to get an extra hat or 2 on Camdens front 7, using multiple doubles to get our RBs to the second level. The object here is to get try and get the Hood Rat LBs in isolation against our RBs, where our guys can run these undersized players over. DEFENSE - 4-2-5 Cover 2 Nickel Going to stick with the Cover 2 this week against Camden, getting back Rhodes will allow us to play more man outside and give us some flexibility in adding some timely blitzes in. I think Baker is the key to the Rats offensive success, so we will try and limit his production. Pass Defense - We’ll mix up coverages on he outside a lot this week, as we think Mayfield works best when he doesnt have to think and just balls out. Tight press, off man, inside and outside leverage, run zone from repeated looks. We want to give Baker many different looks, forcing him to analyze and diagnose, breaking his rhythm when successful and adding uncertainty following an unsuccessful play. Howard will cover Kupp, he is the player we want to take away from Mayfield most. On the other side, Rhodes takes AJ Brown. With 2 safeties over the top, this gives our Int Machine CBs a ton of freedom to be aggressive on the ball knowing they have help behind them. Gronk gets more attention in the red zone and we bracket with a S and LB. Get to Baker - We are primarily rushing 4 in this matchup to keep integrity against the run, but in obvious passing situations, we are blitzing. They can and will come from any spot on the defense, giving Baker yet another thing to account for in his pre snap read.
VigilantZombie
The biggest thing that sticks out to me is while he may be active, Wentz is not actually healthy. I have a hard time believing against Camdens defense he would be that effective playing on 2 sprained ankles. In the end Camden gets a win here 28-
EaglesPeteC
Carson Wentz + exactly 1 healthy WR is a bad combo

RuskieTitan
Damn injuries wiped out that receiving group. Throw in a hobbled QB, and that's a recipe for a game getting ugly.
