Ataal
Trying hard not to be a negative Nancy right now, but it's been a disappointing season so far. Sure, we got two wins on the road to start off, but those teams have a combined record of 1-7. And, we dang near let Detroit come back at the end. One could argue we could be 4-0 right now if we protect the football. It's also just as likely we're 0-4 if a couple other things went the other direction. I mean, I get it. If we had a healthy Mostert and Wilson, our offense looks a lot different. If Verret doesn't go down, our secondary looks better. If....you get the idea. These injuries are starting to become expected instead of surprises. And, that makes me has a sad. I'll end it on a positive note. Deebo leads the league in yardage and YAC. So, at least that will be a fun stat to keep an eye on this season even if it all falls apart.

There are some others but mostly on defense, I think Arik has played well, and the usual great performances from Bosa and Warner. I am a negative Nancy in general, helps smooth the transitions from the highs to the lows.
John232
Gotta say it’s super fun to see Bosa wrecking lines again. He is so good.
John232
one of the things I keep going back too. If we fired him now, he would be a nfl HC the next day.
49ersfan
This lines up with my current thinking - we're a good team that has had some unlucky bounces. These tend to even out over a full season. As long as Lance isn't a disaster and we don't have horrible injury luck, still have us on track to win 10-11 games

It's fair to criticize him as John said. He's having a rough year. I kind of wish he didn't have personnel control, I'll be honest, but I'm not even thinking about firing him

I kind of wish he didn't have personnel control, I'll be honest, but I'm not even thinking about firing him I think a lot of the dissatisfaction with the team is down to misevaluation - this was always a pretty good and proud football team that was going to struggle to meet stated preseason objectives due to its quarterback situation (and fragile secondary) - whether that guy was rookie Lance or Jimmy. Admitting that, trading Jimmy (for whatever compensation), starting Lance, and taking the lumps, would have set expectations more reasonably. But now, both quarterbacks and the coaching staff are coming under fire for wasting a championship roster. And that's an expectations management failure. The team is going to be 8-9 or 9-8 or 10-7, probably. They've got a weak schedule the rest of the way outside of the division. They might not make the playoffs, which might not be a bad thing. Long term, I'm just worried that Shanahan's pride (which is largely deserved) will get in the way of his learning from his failures (which also are very real). Humility is an important and underrated quality. I'll always point to Nick Saban being humble enough to understand that in spite of his defensive genius, he needed to open up his offense, score more points, and take more aggressive decisions in order to continue being a championship level coach. As for this front office and coaching staff learning from mistakes - they've done better in drafting guys without injury histories or character risks lately. But they still undervalue the secondary and usually are too conservative on 4th down, and do some pretty obviously suboptimal things. Despite this, scheming up open receivers is the most important thing that a coach can do in the NFL. And Shanahan still brings that to the table.

Feels like damn near half the league is running our offense. Three teams in our division are running it. It makes sense that defenses would start to adjust and figure it out, its only natural Kyle has been a playcaller in the NFL for over 10 years. He has had sustained success. Its a cat and mouse game. Defenses adjust, then offenses adjust to those adjustments. Thats pro sports in general, but especially true in football. Kyle has ALWAYS figured it out. Lets give Kyle a chance to make adjustments with his hand picked QB. We have one game and then our bye week. The bye week should be enough time to figure out what went wrong and how to change it.

They are pushing players to play that have no business playing. Even if Trent can't go this week, good to see that his injury wasn't too serious and he can return soon. Mitchell and Sermon duo should be solid now that Sermon is catching his footing and knows what he can and can't do at this level.

You don't want to give Trey any semblance of a window to take your job. He may push to play and hopefully it doesn't look like the Miami game last year
