SNF: Goat Bowl, Brady v Belichick, Most overhyped Week 4 game - ever?

I'll go against the grain and say the hype is warranted because any football fan should be curious to see how Belichick schemes against Brady. Don't think NE winning is out of the question. It's still early in the season and while TB is very good they're not so far above that they couldn't drop a game to a middle tier team

I just can't see anyway the Bucs lay an egg  with the amount of hype surrounding this game. Tampa's run defense is excellent and as we saw last week, Mac isn't good enough to win you a game throwing the ball. He'll have to go toe to toe with Brady for New England to have a chance to win this game. I can't see GOAT Brady getting outplayed or playing at a similar level to Mac in his homecoming.

It's overhyped cause Bucs have a superior team.  Otherwise, it is an interesting subject (just unfortunate for the horse to keep getting hit).

But, there won't be another "showdown" like this again (as far as decorated as these two are, squaring off).

At least until the rematch in 2025 of course.

Brady has easily won this divorce and it isn't even close. Plus if the Pats win tomorrow it doesn't matter since it is only a regular season match up. I believe the Patriots are going to get clapped and public chorus will start to turn negatively on Belichick and then that team will miss the playoffs.

How do you figure that?

So?  Brady got to hand-pick the next team he went to.  Did Belichick have his choice of whatever other QB he wanted in the league when Brady left?  The two situations are nowhere near equal.

Brady didn't really get to hand-pick... he wanted to go to SF and they denied him. There were a number of teams who didn't want a 43 year old QB. Tampa was thought of as a solid team when he signed there. They were dark horse SB contenders but everyone had the Saints as big favorites to win that division and to go farther in the playoffs. Brady beat the Saints in the playoffs, then Rodgers at Lambeau and won a SB over Mahomes.

I mean yeah sure Belichick could end up winning a SB or two with Mac Jones and this point becomes moot, but what is the likelihood of that? Not very high.

Still a big difference between getting to go to a solid team (that would allow Brady a huge amount of input on how the team was put together that offseason) versus having to groom the fourth quarterback available in the draft and putting him out there as a rookie.

Yeah Tampa was underdogs in 3 straight playoff games and then people rewrote history like they were always some lock to win the title

They were only "underdogs" because they underachieved at times throughout the regular season, including getting beat-down by the Saints twice.

Still, they were 3rd in Super Bowl winning odds and nobody denied how talented they were as a team, although some people (like myself) questioned how Brady and Arians would work together.

And even then... the Saints were favored at home by only 2.5.  Packers were favored by 3 at home.  They were not REALLY underdogs.

Yeah underdogs in 3 straight playoff games. What a superteam. The first in history.

Come on now.  You would really classify the 2020 Tampa Bay Buccaneers as underdogs?

Stop it.  They would have been favored in the Saints and Packers game if they had played at home.  You basically get 3 points for playing at home, and the Saints were only favored by 2.5, with everyone realizing how washed Brees was, and the Packers were favored by 3.

It's just ridiculous to act like the Bucs were some underdog team.  They were 3rd in odds before the season.  They had Brady at QB.  Evans, Godwin, and Brown at receiver. Gronk and Brate at TE.  A top-five front seven, including the best run defense in football.  There is absolutely no need to try and downplay the team Brady played on just to prop him up.

And nobody is trying to sit here and say they were some unstoppable super-team.  But you are also acting like the Bucs came out of nowhere and nobody expected anything of them.  And that flat-out isn't true.

True. The defense won the Super Bowl and the Saints game. GB was 50-50 and the defense struggle against Washington.
