Strongest Arms in NFL History

One that hasn't been mentioned yet is Bert Jones

Quote

Bert Jones was a tremendous player,” Belichick said. “A tremendous player. Very athletic. He had an arm like no other, really. I’ve never seen a player with the kind of flexibility he had in his arm. The kind of whip and accuracy. He had a quick delivery. He was a tremendous quarterback in an era that was a little bit different.

Definitely Jeff George. I don't have the GIF but there's a throw to Moss that is probably the most insane display of arm strength I've seen in a game.

Something like this?  There are throws George did on the Vikings, he is straight up backpedaling and throws a ball like 40 yards down field on a line.  His ball velocity where half the time he is not even set, it is super rare and not sure any QB had a quicker more powerful release than Jeff George.  He could just rocket the ball off his hand anytime he wanted to regardless of his footwork.

Was awful George only played in Minnesota a year, they would have been better off keeping him for the next few seasons and based on how good he was there with that receiver core.    That one year he had his highest yards per completion his entire career at 8.6 yards.  Sure the Vikings drafted Culpepper in 1999 and George played that year while Culpepper was on the bench and Cunningham got hurt.  Still would have loved to see George and Randy play longer together.

The one throw that sticks in my mind in regards to George was in the 1995 wild card game against the Packers. A moon rocket down the sideline while George was under duress. That's the kind of arm talent that keeps you employed for years even if you might be a jerk.

Yeah it is pretty nuts how quickly the ball arrives on the target regardless of the distance thrown.  He had such juice on his passes, how about some "NexGen stats" on his ball velocity and how fast it arrives on the target, would be interesting to hear how he would compare to current day passers.  On film the ball seems to just shoot out of Jeff George's hand.

But yes mentally Jeff George was not always a great team leader and that did hurt him ultimately in terms of some teams not wanted him as their QB.
