I'm sure that won't come back to haunt us.

It's not that we absolutely NEED 3 more points vs. The Lions in this game.  It's that we'll NEED to get comfortable at scoring with just seconds left so that when we NEED to do it in a crucial game-ending series vs. a good team, we'll be better able to perform in that situation, because we're used to perform that task, so it becomes 2nd nature, like it is with the great teams with the killer instinct.  And with Detroit being so weak in overall talent, and at the start of a new coaching system, and with so many of their top players out and some playing hurt, the risk of a turnover here hurting The Viking's chances to make the playoffs this season is quite low.  Cousins to Jefferson, Thielen, Osborn, Conklin and Mattison carving up the weak Lions' pass defence would have assured that EVEN if there WAS a pick 6 in that situation, The Vikings would win the game, anyway.  It was passing up a good opportunity to pick up experience and confidence in practising the killer instinct needed to compete with the better teams.  But, I know that Zimmer would probably fire or demote his designated offensive play caller if he would dare to do that.
