I just watched him in the Baytown Outlaws. Not a great movie but good enough to sit down and waste a couple hours. Andrea Braugher, Billy Bob, and Eva Longoria were also in it with the guy that played Riggs on the Lethal Weapon TV show. Their characters could have been much better. Feels like a modern day Road Warrior movie.

They just had big tent pole shows like The Sopranos and Game of Thrones carry their brand for a lot of years. Rome was super underrated IMO. Such a shame it got the can after season 2 solely on production costs when they were initially planning 5 seasons.
August4th
The Knick is on HBO Max. I highly recommend that

Only good thing about Rome being canned is they used the money for GOT.

MacReady
I’m watching The Outsider next. I hate doing this to myself. Ben Mendelssohn, Jason Bateman, Stephen King, solid start, I am setting myself up for disappointment.

Oregon Ducks
I liked Raised by Wolves. There were some high points and some low points but overall it kept me wanting to learn more about the world. Wild ending. The acting by the kids was pretty terrible, though.

I've said this before, I thought the first half of The Outsider book was one of King's best ever. I truly did. Then he went full King and kinda ruined it. The whole series was basically a whole season’s worth of see-sawing. With convoluted and contrived twists. Basically an, “And then… But then… And then… But then.” It pretends to know where it’s going without really knowing, and it tries some grand symbolic gesture to account for its meandering nothingness, and it uses overused symbolism and likes to pretend it’s telling something new when Ridley has already done it. Kinda takes all the kick out of any of its cosmic horror for me. The weight it was going for came across as a feather. My opinion of it is almost identical to my opinion of Alien: Covenant and Prometheus, which is overbearing pretentiousness.

Anyone who has taken a deep dive into HBO's catalog, should definitely jump back into "Oz" when they get a chance. It is the foundational show which set the tone for all of the other dramas on the network.
MacReady
Okay, so. The Outsider is so similar to this novel I read once it’s not funny. Like I’m not sure if there’s any way King didn’t read this novel and make it his own. Except I can’t remember the name of the novel, and it wasn’t good enough for me to keep it. King’s version is better though, so I won’t turn him in.

Certainly not as much as Sopranos or Deadwood, but I did enjoy it. Rough subject matter, of course.
