Derrick Henry 4 MVP

biggie.

Recommended Posts

Derrick Henry has more yards after contact this year than the next best runningback has total rush yards. That is only moderately impressive for him since he’s so massive, he’s bound to get contact early and often lol.

Don't get used to it. Tannehill is trash. :)

See below

This man ran for 2 bands in a pass happy league that caters to QB's. Show respeck.

48 TDs 5 Ints and the #1 seed. Not robbed.

Definitely in the running this year though.

A massive overreaction that his "OL is opening up huge lanes for him". A couple times a game, sure, just like most offensive lines. He's also had a handful of snaps per game where a defender is in his grill immediately as he takes the ball. There's plenty of highlights of him trying/succeeding to hand off a defender that has busted through on him. There's plenty of evidence that he's decked below the LOS plenty of times per game.

That said, he's not the MVP...he can't be. Campaign to change the award if you like, but it has to be Lamar or Murray or Brady so far.

If we're just going to give the MVP to any of the 10 QBs that blow up statistically each year, then just rename it QBOTY and be done with it.

If guys want to look at it as value over replacement level, well then obviously QB is far and away the most valuable position.  But passing is just getting easier and easier, and if every year you can make a case for a bunch of different dudes, is what they're doing really as impressive as we think it is?  It seems like every season there's a new QB going nuts.

I'd much rather it be a "Most Outstanding Player" style award, which is far more interesting and meaningful.

This is a very reactionary thread.

If not for the word "literally", this would be the most misused word in the world. "Reactionary" does not mean someone caught up the in moment or overreacting, it is a political word defining a conservative position opposed to social progress.

"Reactive" is the right word.

Learn something new every day. Ive seen reactionary used the way Jak did many times, I just assumed his context was right.

This was touched on previously, but two things:

  1. He has like 72 more carries than the next highest RB
  2. I'm pretty sure his 76-yard touchdown the other night included like 74 yards-after-contact, which is partially why I don't actually like that stat, because he ran into his own guy and wasn't even touched by a defender.

Lol dude is gonna break the record for carries in a season

Granted it's in one more game, but he's on pace to break the carries record by 43.  On pace for 459 carries over a 17 game season, the 16 game carries record is 416 by Larry Johnson for KC in 2006.  Eddie George carried it 403 times back in 2000.  Even in a 16 game schedule he'd be on pace for 432 carries, breaking the record by 16.

If he can do it while averaging 4.8 ypc, screw it. Let him.

He’s gonna be 28 in a few months and will only have a few more years of effectiveness if he’s like a typical runningback. Might as well get your money’s worth now.
