Davenport, when healthy, is close as pass rusher and a much better run defender. Elite pass rushers are like gold in today's NFL.

Agreed, I think the difference is Davenport is right there in terms of rushing the passer but he’s far superior in every other aspect of his game… except playing 😂😂

Pass rusher is great and flashy but let me build the defense with a good disruptor any day.
Raves
Guys like Julius Peppers, JJ Watt, Aaron Donald, etc aren't considered to be the best at their positions in their prime because they could rush the passer, but because not only could they rush the passer, but they can also shut down the run.

I agree. Cam Jordan averages about 10 sacks a year if you ignore his rookie season when he was just a rotational player. He’s not an elite edge rusher but he’s a dominant run defender and a very crafty guy who can affect the game in ways other than just getting a quick pressure. And that’s why he was the centerpiece and best player on our defense for so long, not because of his pass rushing skills. Dav doesn’t need to develop into an elite pass rusher (obviously it would be nice though), he’s already a disruptive pass rusher and great run defender just like Cam… he just needs to stay healthy.
