Vikings-Cowboys.jpg

Both the Cowboys and the Vikings are coming off of bye weeks so they should be well-rested. The Cowboys are coming off of a win against the New England Patriots and have won five games in a row. The Vikings beat the Carolina Panthers before their off week and go into this game with a 3-3 record.

DraftKings Sportsbook posted opening odds for this matchup earlier this week. Here’s a look at what the odds opened at and where they re-opened at the Cowboys-Vikings Week 8 matchup.

Cowboys vs. Vikings

Re-opened point spread: Cowboys -2
Point total: 53
Moneyline: Cowboys -130, Vikings +110

Opening point spread: Cowboys -2.5
Opening point total: 52

Early pick: DAL -2

The Cowboys are a little banged up so the off week came at a perfect time. If Dak Prescott is healthy, this should be a good game for the Cowboys to continue their momentum. The Vikings have been good, but not great this year. I think the Cowboys have a good chance to at least slow down Dalvin Cook and they will rely on their offense to put up a lot of points on their way to victory.

All off season, I've been predicting that the Vikings would be a 12-win team this season.  Were it not for a couple of bad breaks late in a couple of games, they would be sitting at 5-1 right now.  The offense is very good, and Mike Zimmer is getting the defense shaped up.

When it comes to Dallas, nobody is going to believe me because I didn't write it down, but I toyed with the idea of posting in one of the bold prediction threads that I had Dallas as a darkhorse Super Bowl candidate this season.  I think Mike McCarthy is a very good coach, and last year was an outlier because of Covid.  The Cowboys have a TON of talent on offense, and with a healthy Dak Prescott back in action, they should be tough to stop.

This should be one heck of a game - may the best team win!  🤘:)🤘

P.S.  I hate to bring it up since I've moved on to the Jaguars, but I'll never forget it:  Drew Pearson pushed off!

We believe you.

In fact, I am convinced the only reason you didnt become a Cowboys fan is you didnt want to hit us with the Vikings curse. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride

Nope.  I decided to leave the curse behind.  The only two reasons I didn't go with the Cowboys is that I liked a lot of things about Jacksonville, and Zeke is too hairy.  If he would have been willing to get a shave, a haircut, and lose the nose ring, I would have considered it.  He has a right to look the way he wants to look though, I guess.  He IS a great player.

Vikings are a bit of an enigma to me. This is true, and one of those games was the best effort against the Cardinals by anyone this year. But also, it took a last second field goal to beat the Lions at home.

I’ve had my eye on this as a tough game for a while. If you played this game 10 times, I’m pretty confident Dallas would win 6 or 7 of them. But the Viking present a tricky matchup for us, especially on the road.

If we start slow (like against the Giants) and give the Vikings an early lead, I think we are going to have a hard time catching up. Their offense is diverse and explosive, but they are also willing to commit to the run, especially with a lead. That’s a bad recipe for us.

If we come out strong, and force the Vikings to be a bit more one dimensional on offense, I don’t think we can lose.

@D82 => if you want me to do a different thread title, let me know. Hail Mary is in my top 3 favorite songs, but.. uhh... kinda not the exact lyrics and it could be interpreted badly. I feel iffy on this one as I dont want to offend anyone, but I do love Tupac.

Im changing the thread title. Its bothering me. Let me brainstorm. For those that didnt see the OG it was:

🎵Come with me Hail Mary, Vikings, Run Quick See🎵 - Makaveli, Die hard Cowboys fan

The Vikings are a team that can and likely will give our defense fits because they will stick with running the ball.  The best way to win this game will be to get an early lead and hope that Minn abandons running the ball.  For this to happen we’ll need to fix our red zone issues offensively.  I’d like to see early TDs while holding Minn to FGs.  And above all else we cannot give the ball away.

How is the Vikings OL this year?
