This sport deserves to die.

Rose and Jackson already weren’t in, idk why people thought those two would be an exception. If anything they will be remembered more for being on the greatest who never got in list then they would have minus the controversy.

I’d be in favor of retooling the Hall to get them in, but realistically no way in hell those guys deserve an exemption if you Jackson and Rose have been iced out the better part of a century, those guys are higher priority

You make an exception beecause the Hall of Fame is literally just a giant commercial for your sport, which is in the midst of probably the worst labor stoppage it'll ever have had up until this point, and showing no signs of improving. Barry Bonds is the greatest professional baseball player in history, to not have him in the Hall of Fame purely because the BWAA just don't like the guy is exactly and precisely the issue with this sclerotic *** old man *** sport that refuses to ever consider these things and what impact it might have on people finding a level of interest in the sport through it's 150 year history.

If you don't have the best player ever in your stupid giant church to your sport that exists purely to sell people **** and get people interested in the sport then you've failed on every conceivable level. It's an indictment on the totally removal of perspective over what's happened to your sport, what's wrong with it, and any possible way to get it back on track with even just some basic good PR of "oh hey look some Bonds highlights for 3 months while the lockout continues isn't that cool and fun?" it's the entire apparatus of this sport being wholly and utterly out of touch with any and all ways to grow it or try and frame itself in a kind of positive and future focused light rather than just the same game it was in 1972 run by the same gaggle of old *** men who make the sport ever more impenetrable.

The fact that David Ortiz got in despite ALSO being a confirmed steroid user delegitimizes and credibility the Baseball Hall of Fame had. If you're going to take a stance against Clemens and Bonds for that reason, at least be god dang consistent. What a joke.

Pete Rose should also be in.

Scott Rolen is going to get in next year and Barry Bonds will never get in.

By him never getting in you make everybody else who DOES look worse because now you constantly have to go "Jeez that guy got in but not Bonds?" Every freaking year we're not talking about all these amazing players we're yet again talking about how Barry effing Bonds didn't get into the HoF. That's terrible PR, that's terrible marketing, that's a terrible angle for the sport.

This isn’t accurate and it’s why a lot of misinformation is confusing people.

Ortiz was reported on an anonymous list that we for 100% fact know

1. Some of the names reported were flat out false.

2. There are confirmed double digit false positives in that testing sample

3. They tested for substances that are currently legal

4. The league came out and both supported Ortiz and said that report and list was far too flawed and suspect with confirmed mistakes to indict anybody reported

So it’s just categorically false to say he’s he’s a confirmed user. And the voters considered that with him. There isn’t debate with Bonds, Clemens and A-Rod.  There was a non insignificant possibility Ortiz was 100% clean and got railroaded over a very flawed testing group that the league doesn’t view as credible. And most of the voters who went for him said as much.

He might have, but there’s way too much reasonable doubt in his case. You can’t say that for anybody else on the current ballot.

At least A-Rod had the decency to come clean after that survey was leaked (gonna ignore what happened 4 years later LOL). Couldn't care less about all this Ryan Braun-esque nonsense to pretend Papi didn't because everyone loves him.

Seriously we got Big Papi in the HOF but no Barry? Lmao

Nobody actually cares about who was juiced and who wasn't lmao, it's literally just about who was nice to BBWA guys and who wasn't, just like it's literally ALWAYS been.

Maybe. But they made the decision to hold out PED users long before Bonds and Clemens were up for vote. So it’s not exclusive to them. A-Rod is rubbing elbows with voters now and can’t get in.

All I’ll say is, I think they SHOULD be in. But the HOF needs a total retool. You can’t just make exceptions now when you held others out for years. You have to retroactively go back and fix it for everyone or no one. You don’t make an exception for Bonds and then not pave the way for Rose and Jackson. That’s just bs.
