I actually had to check to see: ARod (age 25) - 10/252 deal with Texas - Great deal Arod (age 32) - 10/275 deal with Yanks - Ugly ending with the roid suspensions and decline Lindor (age 27) - 10/341 deal with Mets - Ugly 1st year, but he's only 28 and should bounce back. Tatis Jr (age 22) - 14/340 (not quite $25 AAV but close) deal with Pads - Only 1 year in and he's still a monster Machado (age 26) - 10/300 deal with Pads - Had an iffy debut with Pads; was outstanding in the fake 2020 covid year; and was really good but not outstanding this past year. Need to see more of this one. Betts (age 28) - 12/365 deal with Dodgers - Only 1 year in and he played fine, despite some injuries this year Harper (age 26) - 13/330 deal with Phils - Worth 11.1 fWAR in the 2 non-covid seasons. This one is playing out fine Trout (age 29) - 10/360 deal with Angels - Was on a 9+fWAR pace before his season ended with injury. Only year 1 in the deal, and I suppose the injury could derail him Stanton (age 27) - 13/327 deal with Marlins - He's been hurt a bunch and that likely isn't to get better as time goes on. Not quite in the "loss" category, but not far from it. Cano (age 31) - 10/228 (again, close but not quite $25 AAV) deal with M's - 7 years in and this one looks bad. Roids and injuries have taken their toll. Votto (age 30) - 10/225 (close) deal with Reds - Votto just keeps hitting. This deal looks completely fine. Pujols (age 32) - 10/240 (close) deal with Angels - A trainwreck from the beginning. Hasn't been a positive fWAR player since 2016. Cole (age 30) - 9/324 (close) deal with Yanks - Good debut, although he was dramatically affected by the sticky stuff ban I think that is it for deals 9 or 10 years in length, with an AAV close to or above $25 million. The ones that are for sure losses were big deals given to guys 30+ in ARod's 2nd deal, Cano and Pujols. Stanton's deal is dang close, though and I wouldn't quibble with you if you wanted to count that one a "loss" already. The for sure wins were the first deal given to ARod as a 25 year old and a 30 year old Votto. The rest are just too recent to analyze yet. romo2bryant
It's not really bold, but I think Jose Ramirez starts the season as a Blue Jay.
Leader
Hal Steinbrenner called Carlos Correa “a great talent” and said that “hopefully, most people have moved on from” the Astros sign-stealing scandal. Leader
Jon Heyman - Dodgers are trying to bring back Corey Seager but don’t appear seriously interested in the other big free agent shortstops. So for them it’ll either be Seager or Trea Turner at SS next season. TheBleacherCreatures - Per Joel Sherman, the Yankees are not all-in on signing a big name shortstop, they are “monitoring” the situation and “waiting to see if a market collapses, in which case they might still swoop in to try to sign one.”

You have a huge need at SS and there just happens to be several very good ones available this offseason. 25 minutes ago, Leader said: Marc Topkin - BREAKING: Rays, Wander Franco moving close to long term deal. I'm really surprised that Franco's representation went along with this deal, prior to a new CBA. This could look really, really bad for them in a few months if the arb years get overhauled as we all think they will.

As for the Yankees.....they've got a lot of moving parts there...so not sure what direction they're heading in.
Leader
NY Post - The Tampa Bay Rays have locked up one of the brightest young stars in baseball for over a decade. Wander Franco agreed to an 11-year deal worth $182 million guaranteed and up to 12 years and $223 million if a final-year option is exercised, according to multiple reports. It is the largest contract in Rays history and sets a new record for a player with less than a year of service time. The 20-year-old shortstop was widely considered the top prospect in baseball last season. He made his MLB debut in June and batted .288 with seven homers and a .810 OPS in 308 plate appearances across 70 games.

Possibly so....but, he's gonna cash in pretty good and be able to double dip at it when he's around 30-32 years old. He'll be fine.
