2021: The Offseason of Discontent

Jon Heyman -   Free agency mystery: Justin Verlander’s $50M, 2-year Astros deal (w/opt out) never was announced and presumably is not official. That means Verlander and Astros have to wait to finalize until a new CBA is done. It is unclear why the deal reported 2 weeks ago is now in limbo.

He probably saw what Scherzer got AAV wise and said...maybe let's not sign that just yet lol.

Jeff Passan -   Outfielder Hunter Renfroe has been traded from the Boston Red Sox to the Milwaukee Brewers, sources tell ESPN.

Brewers pull off trade before lockout deadline, sending Jackie Bradley Jr. back to Boston with minor-league prospects Alex Binelas and David Hamilton in exchange for rightfielder Hunter Renfroe.

Question......

Can GM's talk to player agents while things are on lockdown?

And if not.....do they do it anyway?
Just wondering....

I don't believe they are allowed to.  But we all know it likely happens.

Hal voted to lower the CBT threshold. He constantly uses the threshold as an excuse for why his team spends less than they did two decades ago, yet he wants to LOWER the threshold!! George would hire a guy to find dirt on this schmuck and punch him in an elevator. He's no Steinbrenner.
