MWil23
The Browns are converting his base salary to a signing bonus to limit the cap hit. He will be gone today.

So they're essentially agreeing to release him knowing he'll clear waivers and be able to sign a new deal if they can pay him less.

So from my understanding the Browns are renegotiating his contract so they owe him less because they know that no one is going to take on his contract. But the Browns would still owe him GTD money and he'd be free to sign a new deal for whatever $ with any other team.
ACO
I wonder of teams will allow him to clear so avoid more drama. I like OBJ but If I am a front office, I am not about to try to force him to play where he does not want to be. That is not a headache to have half way through the season when teams are trying to change their luck or make bigger pushe., You don't want unnecessary drama. Will be interesting to see how it plays out.
