Yeah, it's a mess.

I just want to see some depth added here and there to give the other guys a chance. It's not really fair to throw Goff out there with Raymond as his #1 receiver. For that matter, it's not fair to Raymond to have to be the #1 receiver. It's not ideal to force some of our corners to defend Devante Adams when they're best-suited to being a nickel corner. Stuff like that.

Agreed on all of that. As much hate as Goff is going to get, some of it being deserved, it's a huge uphill battle for anyone. We aren't putting guys in positions to have success. I get it, we're in year 1 of a rebuild. This is the tear down part. It just makes things extremely difficult to evaluate what you have when the gap in talent vs your opponent is so vast. We have PS guys getting meaningful snaps and playing time.

I agree with you for the most part but experience, failure and learning aren’t always bad things. Playing above your pay grade provides all those and a challenge.

Raymond has played better than I thought he ever would. Those young corners thrown into the fire have performed admirably.

What this gives the coaching staff is invaluable. They can actually gauge who can step up and who doesn't give up when faced with huge challenges.

Sewell thrown into the LT job was overwhelmed at times but he has progressed very well. He has learned from mistakes. He’s well on his way to becoming the player everyone hoped.

With less than a stellar WR core it has really demonstrated where the Lions need improvement running the ball. They’ve mad great strides but still need to be better.

We all know how important depth is in the NFL. Being positioned to have these players challenged they can measure who may be a starter, who can be quality backup and who needs replacing.

Like everything there’s good and bad. I mostly feel sorry for Goff but then I look at what we’re able to take away from what we see. He doesn’t handle pressure well and he isn’t improving in that aspect. He doesn’t have the vision we hoped for nor does he move through progressions well. He continues to drop back 10 yards and no left tackle can protect for that. Goff doesn’t seem to realize that because he never seems to expect the pressure.

For me I’m glad to have seen, what I’ve seen to date. I had hopes for Goff but it’s clear to me that he will never be more than an okay QB on a really good team. I’m old so I like to see things play out and become black and white.

While the losses are numbingly painful I’m still positive on the management and coaching. Dan the man will know who his kneecap biting players are when this season is over. They will have a solid feel for the team and hopefully will have an effective draft and free agency with a better knowledge of the team and players.

When you only have 1 target (Hockenson) to throw to, and he's covered, there isn't anywhere to move to. While I agree Goff is not the answer long term, we really can't evaluate the offense when it's so over matched every single game. Our starting OL has not played a single snap together. Our top 2 FA WRs did not even make it to the field together. ARSB cannot be evaluated when we've throw him into the abyss and asked him to sink or swim.

I understand a rebuild. I understand tearing it down to the studs and starting over. But we still need a few studs to hold it together or else the roof caves in. Claiming Josh Reynolds won't move the needle much in the W/L column. Nor should he. But he will allow us to get a better feel for the guys around him.

You can evaluate individuals in any circumstance. Goff can’t hit open receivers as it is. He frequently doesn’t see open receivers.
