Hmmm, to land Realmuto and Yelich?

Luis Gohara, Kyle Wright, Mike Soroka, Austin Riley, Drew Waters, Toukii Touisant, and Anfernee Seymore

Would still leave Atlanta with Kolby Allard, Ian Anderson, Acuna obviously, Max Fried, and Joey Wentz.  Damn that system is loaded.

Basically your entire farm with any significant upside. Both of those player are coming into their prime, have quality resumes, play a prime position and have insanely valuable contracts/team control...

The contract part is why this doesn't make sense. Atlanta has money and prospects near the big leagues, and should be focused on getting closer to their payroll ceiling. Those guys make more sense for the Yankees/Red Sox/Dodgers/luxury tax teams who are already tapped out on cash.

Id be 100% ok with that trade. We'd probably throw in either Suzuki or Flowers since the Marlins have to actually have a player at every position for games.

That’s not enough.

I didn't do the city taxes, good catch.

With the state taxes, they are actually calculated based on where they are playing that day. So Giancarlo Stanton still paid state income tax while he was a Marlin during most of his road games even though Florida doesn't have a state income tax.

For my calc, I just assumed that it would be about 50/50 home/road, and used the national average state income tax (nominally like 6%) as the other half. A real agency would probably use historic data to figure out the actual numbers to more precision.

If he maintains his home in Missouri or Kansas or wherever he lives currently, San Diego could structure in a way where most of his money is a bonus. Bonus income is taxed based on where the player lives as his primary residence. This would alleviate a chunk of those tax implications.

If broken up, which do you think doesn't work:

Gohara, Soroka, Waters, and Seymore for Yelich?

or

Wright, Riley, and Touisant for Realmuto?

The first one. Yelich probably gets something close to the Sale package.

Love this trade.

So breaking this down:

Dodgers add talented pre-arb LH RP for salary obligations that don't go towards the luxury tax and spare parts.

White Sox get two guys to flip for prospects at the deadline.

Royals get salary relief.

Stupid sexy Friedmann.

My understanding is we sent $2 million to cover Avilan's arb salary this year. Yup stupid sexy Friedman. Alexander steps in as probably our 2nd best reliever with what 5 years of cost control for a AAAA speedy INF, Oaks and Avilan. Oaks is likely a 4th or 5th starter at best. He also gets the type of player he loves a new version of ****`, Culberson and Taylor. An infielder that can play 5 positions and throw up about a .260 avg.
