onejayhawk
What a difference a month makes. Four Sundays ago, the Titans embarressed the Chiefs 27-3 in a game that really was not that close. At the time, Green Bay, Las Vegas, and Dallas were a combined 16-4. Other than the Giants game, November looked like a death march. The Chiefs emerged 4-0. To be sure, they caught some big breaks, but the defense only allowed 12 points per game. You can win a lot doing that. So, we go into the bye thankful for the first eleven games. The best is yet to come. What do you think girls?
onejayhawk
HC Reid, "We haven't proven anything yet." Yes you have. You've proven that you belong in the playoff mix. A month ago, that was in doubt. https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/andy_reid_on_chiefs_recent_success_we_havent_proven_anything_yet/s1_16631_36509057
kingseanjohn
Really wish the Steelers would get their act together. If the Chargers win tonight and next week, they are in 1st place.

Sun, Dec 5 vs Denver Sun, Dec 12 vs Las Vegas Thu, Dec 16 @ LA Chargers Sun, Dec 26 vs Pittsburgh Sun, Jan 2 @ Cincinnati Sun, Jan 9 @ Denver The playoff picture is pretty jumbled. However, the two teams with only three losses both have wins over the Chiefs.https://www.sportingnews.com/us/nfl/news/chiefs-playoff-picture-nfl-standings/cguy9ihqxw781rx0zpwsr20n7 Edited November 22, 2021 by onejayhawk

KC_Guy
What's more exciting news during bye week than a contract extension ... Chiefs extended LS James Winchester. 2 year extension - making him the highest paid player at the position. Vet minimum plus some signing bonus ... Good thing the vet min rises each year - so the next veteran Long Snapper signed can say the same ...

The closest thing I could find is this: Quote In 2017, Winchester restructured his deal to give the Chiefs an additional $400K in cap space. It’s likely that the new pact is similarly structured to provide KC with extra room in the near term, though Winchester will see a sizable bump from his current $890K/year average. Source Quote The highest-paid player at long snapper for the 2021 season is Jon Weeks of the Houston Texans. He signed a one-year with the Texans last offseason, and the contract is worth a total value of $1.21 million, with a base salary of $1.075 million, and $250,000 is fully guaranteed, per OverTheCap. onejayhawk
The Chiefs are #1 on FBO Special Teams rankings. Winchester is one reason. Still, he's 32. This may be his final contract, or not LS are a unique breed. The Dallas game gave us a big boost in the defensive rankings--from#30 up to #23. In the weighted ranknigs (recent games count more) we are up to #17. ST continue at #1. Offense is at #6, down one notch. There have been bright spots, but the offense is not consistent. As expected, Chris Jones is pulling in hardware, specifically Player of the Week.https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2021/11/24/22800363/chris-jones-named-afcs-defensive-player-of-the-week-for-week-11 The Cowboys game gave us a major bump in the power ranking.https://chiefswire.usatoday.com/2021/11/24/kansas-city-chiefs-fourth-usa-today-power-rankings-week-12/ I'll post it here though it's common knowledge that the Denver game was moved to Sunday night. We're bumping the Seahawks, whiI find amusing.https://bleacherreport.com/articles/10018978-broncos-at-chiefs-week-13-matchup-flexed-to-snf-replaces-49ers-at-seahawks This is an interesting comment. We're on a roll, yet the bye comes at a helpful time. We have three straight divisional games coming up and some key players playing with or coming off injuries. https://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/despite_momentum_chiefs_bye_week_came_at_a_perfect_time/s1_16631_36526484
onejayhawk
Arrowhead Pride handed out rookie awards for midseason. Bolton was the unanimous defensive player. Creed Humprhey is their coice for offensive player. https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2021/11/24/22796712/arrowhead-pride-bye-week-awards-offensive-rookie-of-the-yearhttps://www.arrowheadpride.com/2021/11/24/22796723/arrowhead-pride-bye-week-awards-defensive-rookie-of-the-year

onejayhawk
LS is the safest job in the NFL. Even P and K are more often injured. Bears win out in the first turkey game. J
onejayhawk
Bye week MVP. there should be no question on this one. On offense Tyreek hill is the only cndidate. In an off year he is having a monster deason, even by his standards. On defense, Im all in on Sneed, but the article splits the vote. For both, clearly Hill.https://www.arrowheadpride.com/2021/11/25/22796741/arrowhead-pride-bye-week-awards-offensive-player-of-the-yearhttps://www.arrowheadpride.com/2021/11/25/22796747/arrowhead-pride-bye-week-awards-defensive-player-of-the-year Edited November 27, 2021 by onejayhawk
onejayhawk
I saw a couple of articles on surprise or improved players. It begs the question who you think is improved and/or surprising? Some candidates for most improved: Mike Danna - 6 GS, 3 sacks, 2 FF Rashad Fenton - 6 GS, 5 PD, 1 FF--He's PFF's highest rated player on the whole defense, see below Willie Gay--6 GS, 25 tackles, 2 Int, 2 PD Byron Pringle--2 GS, 23 rec, 3 TD, 17 FD, 8 20+ plays Darrel Williams--5 GS, 358 yd, 23 rec, 282, 5 TD The question arrises, who is improved and who is just getting the opportunity? https://chiefswire.usatoday.com/lists/kansas-city-chiefs-creed-humphrey-rashad-fenton-trey-smith-nick-bolton-expectations-exceeded/https://chiefswire.usatoday.com/lists/kansas-city-chiefs-pro-football-focus-top-defensive-grades-bye-week/ Edited November 27, 2021 by onejayhawk
