Kayvon has produced for three years straight, even with injuries this year. He is an athletic freak, was the top prospect out of high school and has lived up to it. They had similar years and I feel Kayvon is safer to reach his ceiling. One year wonders always make me nervous but that was an impressive year Hitch had. A case can be made for either player. It’s a nice dilemma for the Lions to have.

I wouldn't be mad either way. I feel like the two will be nit picked for the next 5 months until the draft. Will be a fun process and the combine might actually help tip the scales this year.
Louis Friend
Just for fun now that we are #2. I rejected all trade offers. 2. Kayvon Thibodeaux EDGE Oregon -Aidan was taken #1. Easy choice here. 24. Drake London WR USC -Olave, Wilson, Williams, Burks were all off the board here. 34. Jaquan Brisker S Penn State -Solid S to finally address the position we've neglected for years. 66. Ed Ingram OG LSU -Fill him in between Ragnow and Sewell, use cap space from cutting Vaitai elsewhere. 98. John Metchie III WR Alabama -Drops this far due to injury. Speed guy who runs good routes. Value late in the third. 176. Charlie Kolar TE Iowa State -Alot guys off the board between the 4th and 5th rounds. Sucks giving away our picks there. I took my top rated guy here. 181. Ellis Brooks LB Penn State -TBH, I don't know much about Brooks. But he plays LB for Penn State so I'll do my research later. 218. Jack Sanborn LB Wisconsin -I doubled up at LB. It's a need for us and I just love Sanborn's grit. Again, a Wisconsin LB. 237. Jayden Reed WR Michigan State -Alot of the guys I like late were off the board in this mock. I think Reed can help out on special teams.

I think a restructure or pay cut or extension to lower cap hit might be in his future though. But as of right now I don't want to mess with that line. But as of right now I don't want to mess with that line. I sort of agree with this. Somewhat depends on if Evan Brown can keep his play at RG. Big V is the 5th highest paid OG, as he was paid initially to be a RT. He hasn't lived up to that although he has been playing better recently. I am not opposed to letting him go if we are confident in the replacement pieces, but also would be just fine if we can extend him a year or two and reduce his cap hit. Louis Friend
One small trade. Traded #98 to the Giants for #108 and #148. Trying to undo the Trinity Benson trade. 2. Aidan Hutchinson EDGE Michigan- Kayvon went 1. 24. Treylon Burks WR Arkansas- He was the last of the big receivers. I've been watching games of the WRs in this class and there is alot of talent here. 34. Ahmad Gardner CB Cincinnati- Hometown guy fell to the second round. Couldn't pass him up. 66. Jordan Battle S Alabama- Also fell to the third. I think he goes 2nd rd. Fills a HUGE need. 108. John Metchie III WR Alabama- Falls due to his injury. The talent is there. Him, Burks and ARSB would be an amazing group. 148. Sam LaPorta TE Iowa- My top guy on the board. 176. Tre' Williams EDGE Arkansas- I haven't watched film on him yet, but I don't think doubling up at this position is wrong. 181. Sterling Weatherford S Miami-Oh- More of a hybrid LB/S and I love his versatility. 218. Micah McFadden LB Indiana- A nice LB to pair with Barnes inside. 235. Jayden Reed WR Michigan State- Really don't need a 3rd WR in this draft, but Reed was my highest rated player and he can play special teams.
NudeTayne
With the new TV money coming in, this free agency period goes a bit nuts. Detroit would already have to overpay to get real talent to come to a smaller market that also lacks the wins so this year they are mostly inactive in free agency; thus the plan is to trade down and make lots of picks, filling out the WR, CB and LB rooms especially while grabbing a QBOTF. Daniels has starter potential as well and is a hedge for a future without Goff. I see Goff being starter next year, at least to start the year, depending on how ready Strong is out the gate. This draft is for the 2023 season moreso than expecting many added wins in 2022. Lemme know whatcha think. P.S.: I got pick 35 on value for the '23 Rams first and thought that was worth it, as I doubt they don't at least make the playoffs again next season. 2. Kayvon Thibodeaux EDGE Oregon 31. Treylon Burks WR Arkansas 49. Carson Strong QB Nevada 59. Romeo Doubs WR Nevada 69. Kyler Gordon CB Washington 82. Chad Muma LB Wyoming 90. Abraham Lucas OT Washington State 92. Mykael Wright CB Oregon 95. John Metchie WR Alabama 101. Jahleel Billingsley TE Alabama 105. Brian Asamoah II LB Oklahoma 123. Verone McKinley S Oregon 144. Logan Hall DT Houston 157. Zakoby McClain LB Auburn 168. Jerrion Ealy RB Mississippi 173. JT Daniels QB Georgia 197. Jordan McFadden OL Clemson 218. Christopher Allen EDGE Alabama 237. Joey Porter Jr. CB Penn State Edited December 24, 2021 by NudeTayne
Miblue
My fanspeak today: 2: R1 P2 EDGE Aidan Hutchinson - Michigan 26: R1 P26 WR Drake London - USC 34: R2 P2 LB Devin Lloyd - Utah 66: R3 P2 S Jordan Battle - Alabama 176: R5 P34 RB Hassan Haskins - Michigan 181: R6 P2 TE Cole Turner - Nevada 218: R6 P39 WR Romeo Doubs - Nevada 233: R7 P14 DL Jayson Ademilola - Notre Dame
Louis Friend
New draft order with Rams moving to the 28th pick. 2. Kayvon Thibodeaux EDGE Oregon- Hutchinson went #1 to Jacksonville. 28. Drake London WR USC- Most of the mocks I've done, London and Burks are gone by this point. But both were available. 34. Malik Willis QB Liberty- I've been watching more of the QBs the last few days and Pickett/Willis are my top 2 guys. They are completely different players and I prefer Pickett's pocket passer ability more, but I decided to go with the running QB in Willis. I think he has good arm strength, but his mobility would add a new wrinkle to our offense. 66. Justyn Ross WR Clemson- Even though London was available in the first, I want to double up at the position. Doubs was picked before Ross and Metchie was further down the board. I like adding two big bodied receivers to ARSB. 98. Tykee Smith S Georgia- Tykee interests me. He's played both safety and linebacker, offering our defense good versatility. This would allow Aaron Gleen to disguise coverages with Smith up the middle. 176. Isaiah Pola-Mao S USC- Nephew of Troy Polamalu. He has a similar playing style but he's much larger. 6'4" 205llbs. 181. Cole Turner TE Nevada- Good pass catching TE to backup Hockenson. 218. Micah McFadden LB Indiana- LB to pair up with Barnes in the middle. 231. Jayden Reed WR Michigan State- Good special teams player. Could replace Igwebuike as return specialist.
Karnage84
5 ROUND MOCK 2) Aidan Hutchinson, DE/OLB, Michigan Checks off all of the boxes for what we need - Edge player, high motor, local kid 30) Traded to Carolina for 2023 1st, #105, #148 Couldn't pass up the opportunity to obtain another 1st with our next pick only 4 slots away 34) Brandon Smith, LB, Penn State We need major improvement at the LB position. Depending on how things line up, Smith could play at MLB, ILB, OLB or DE 66) Romeo Doubs, WR, Nevada We need to add talent to the WR group. Getting comps to Michael Thomas. Could use someone like that on the roster 98) Thayer Munford, OG, Ohio State Vaitai has a hefty contract and this is another young piece to be added to that OL group. Keep our guys upright and opening up holes 105) John Metchie III, WR, Alabama Slips due to injury and depth at the position. Speed guy that would be a really nice compliment to Doubs and ARSB as a trio. 148) Kenderick Duncan, S/LB, Louisville Has the size and athleticism to play as a safety or as a LB. Getting someone that can cover would be fantastic 176) James Cook, RB, Georgia We are already so deep at RB but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to add Dalvin Cook's brother into the group. As a team that wants to run the ball, we should be adding someone to the mix every year or every other year (whether in the draft and/or UDFA). Lean on Staley to coach them up
NudeTayne
Traded away Rams 1st and Lions '23 6th to move up and grab Leal to go with Hutchinson. 3. Aidan Hutchinson EDGE Michigan 17. DeMarvin Leal DT Texas A&M 30. Dax Hill S Michigan 34. Malik Willis QB Liberty 63. Jahan Dotson WR Penn State 66. Kenneth Walker RB Michigan State 86. Quay Walker LB Georgia 96. Isaiah Foskey EDGE Notre Dame 98. Thayer Munford OG Ohio State 104. Erik Ezukanma WR Texas Tech 112. John Metchie III WR Alabama 116. Tre'Vius Hodges-Tomlinson CB TCU 151. Sam LaPorta TE Iowa 155. Sllim Pickens
2. Kayvon Thibodeaux EDGE Oregon 30. Nakobe Dean LB Georgia 34. Trent McDuffie CB Washington 66. Romeo Doubs WR Nevada 98. Bailey Zappe QB Western Kentucky 176. Cole Strange OG Chattanooga 181. Jerreth Sterns WR Western Kentucky 218. Bubba Bolden S Miami-Fl 231. Micah McFadden LB Indiana When I go BPA, this is how it comes out form me quite often. I doubt Dean drops that far but if he did I would be ecstatic. I passed on Burks for Dean there. at 34, I passed on QB in Willis and Pickett. I would be ok with either of them but again, I really like McDuffie and think he will go higher than this. I would plan to move Okudah to S most likely but if not, adding another talented CB is always a good idea.
Louis Friend
No trades! 2. Kayvon Thibodeaux EDGE Oregon- Aidan went #1. 30. Drake London WR USC- Olave, Wilson, Burks, Williams were all off the baord. As well as Dean, Gardner and Hill. 34. Kenny Pickett QB Pittsburgh- Top 3 guys available here were Pickett, Willis and Jaquan Brisker. I took my top guy. 66. Jordan Battle S Alabama- I've seen his mocked alot in the second round. He dropped to the third and fills a big need. 98. John Metchie III WR Alabama- Might be my favorite WR prospect. I be thrilled to get him here. 176. Isaiah Pola-Mao S USC- Really fascinated this this kid. I'm still trying to find more tape of him. But he pops at times. 181. Zakoby McClain LB Auburn- Good runner, skilled in coverage, can play special teams. 218. Bubba Bolden S Miami-Fl- Season ending shoulder surgery drops him to day 3. He can play special teams. Depth at safety is my dream. 231. Allie Green IV CB Missouri- 6'3" 206lb knee cap biter.
Sllim Pickens
Its fun seeing the various rankings on the different sites and where they project guys to go. Here are four drafts on different sites with no trades. PFF seems to be the most accurate for what I am expecting. First pick is way off and PFN and TDN seems a little off. My hopes would be PFN/TDN is accurate but I doubt it as I do a lot of drafts with Dean and McDuffie falling to our 2nd first round pick and second round picks respectively. PFF has some of the DL falling and I have done a couple where I get Kayvon, Olave/Burks, Lael/Davis with my first three picks. TDN I just did and got KT, Dean, Sauce Gardner, Malik Wills with our first four picks. First pick I got KT, Karalafitis, Olave, Brandon Smith with the first four picks. PFN I got Hutch, Lloyd, Brisker, Tolbert with the first four picks.
Louis Friend
TDN definitely has the absolute worse player evaluations/projections. I think PFF and PFN have the best. First pick just lets you trade picks ridiculously.
