Couple of things from around the league that could led to us getting some steals in FA…with the indication that Frank Reich is happy to release his entire defensive staff for lateral moves and that he wants to bring some new ideas on board defensively you have to think a lot of those players who were brought in over the last 4 years in Indy for that 4-3 “Cover 2” defence would rather come here than resign there given the fact they will know the majority of the staff and the scheme…

In Vegas with McDaniels being hired he will probably bring in the 2 Gap 3-4 scheme they know in NE which is very different from the 4-3 “Cover 3” that Gus Bradley was running so again the players brought in for that could want to follow Rod when he is eventually announced here…on top of that a lot of the Raiders players feel Bisaccia should have gotten that job after what he did there so they might want to follow him here…

Only bad thing is GB don’t seem to have many good FAs to follow Getsy on the offensive side of the ball.

We can promise Adams he will be the 1 and 2 receiver and he'll get enough targets that it would Marvin Harrison flinch. Iirc he's the only WR to get over 200 targets in a season. We can aim for 250. 😂

Been back and forth on the idea of trying to sign MVS. Love the deep threat for Fields, but I’m not sure that there’s enough there to justify a contract like what he may command. His volume is more that of a #4 WR. Getsy would at least have ideal knowledge about whether he’s capable of more, but typically guys leaving situations with elite QBs don’t get better.

I'm with you...just doesn't do enough outside of deep shots.

Actually Bilai Nichols is a natural 3-technique

I'm all over BJ Hill as the new 3Tech DTackle running a 4-2-5 variant of the 4-3 under Eberfluss. You can maybe retain Nichols as the 5Tech.
Goldman is not a fit for this scheme methinks.

I'm a big fan of Hill but the Bengals have nearly $58 million worth of cap space...tough to see them losing many guys after this season...I reckon then resign Hill & Larry Ogunjobi...

Nichols is a pure UT in this scheme...that said we need at least one more at that spot as this D is all about pass rush.

I did some cuts and you can get to about 55M w/o tearing it completely down. To get Adams you would have to backload the contract and try to only pay a máx 10-11M CAP hit this year. He ain't getting 30M going into his age 30 season. Maybe 25-26M AAV which makes him the unquestioned leader in WR earnings league wide. So I propose something like a 5/125M or 5/130M with 70M guaranteed to include a 40M signing bonus. That way your 2022 CAP hit is only 10 or 11M with 2 or 3M salary. It increases exponentially in 2023 with a largar CAP and you guarantee him a 10M base salary plus roster bonuses.

Just spitballing

Blackson and Edwards are under reasonable deals for one more year. I’d bet Blackson can slide in at 3T. I thought he played pretty well this year and flashed the ability to penetrate. I’m not sure Edwards has enough size to slide inside. Could they add 10-15 lb to him? I’ve always liked his game.

I think in this scheme Blackson is an excellent NT at near 320lbs but with pass rush skills...I think Edwards is a 3rd down inside pass rush specialist...might even play some early down LE in the rotation against some really run heavy teams.

Missing on Miller and to a lessor extent Ridley has hurt the Bears who have to rely strictly on FAs at WR and have to do so again.

You want to get your WRs from draft.   But not having early picks is a problem - Bears need a plus WR in FA in 2022 to replace ARob.   It is a must.

Not sure who that is going to be.  Going to be one of biggest offseason decisions for new GM.
