Uncle Buck
I don't follow the Eagles too closely, but from what I've heard, Jalen Hurts is a good guy who can run with the ball, but isn't much of a passer. Last week, you put Minshew in as your starter and he had a pretty good game (albeit, against the Jets). What do you guys think? Would you rather have Minshew under center from now on, or would you rather stick with Hurts? Edited December 8, 2021 by Uncle Buck
AZ_Eaglesfan
Think its very unlikely either of them are a long term solution. Hurts is extremely flawed, but it is clear he has significantly more upside than Minshew and he will start for the rest of the season and likely next season. Danger
Other >> Minshew >>> Hurts Hurts has flaws that frankly I can't see being fixed no matter how long he plays.
Nabbs4u
I'd rather this thread of been created by a Eagles poster so I could make fun of them instead of You. Absolutely nothing Minshew did vs the pitiful Jets had an effect towards Jalen Hurts either in 2021 or 2022. Anyone including Danger thinking otherwise is on crack! Let Hurts have a bad game or two. Minshew will be in. You can’t ignore a guy on the bench that can play better than the incumbent. At any position.
Kiltman
I doubt it. Jalen has had some not so high highs and not so low lows when you look at the bulk of his work. I think Minshew is similar that way. A couple outlier games ileither way but they are fine. I want to see what Jalen has the next 4 games. It’ll be pretty telling. If he leads us to a 4-0 record and plays well in that playoff game I think Hurts enters next year as the starter here. If he plays in the middle or lower I think there’s a greater chance they try to trade for Wilson in the offseason or take a guy like Pickett or Corral with one of the 3 first round picks. As someone who’s cautiously ok with Jalen, and think it’s dumb to trade for any of the 3 available vet QBs. AND not in love with the guys in the draft… I hope Hurts is the plan for 2022, with Minshew pushing him.
aussie_eagle
Hurts was given a chance and produced a horrible performance vs NYG. Minshew should be given the start until he performs poorly. Neither are likely the QBOTF though. Hurts can't pass or go through his progressions. Minshew seems to just not be good enough but having looked at his stats in Jacksonville they aren't too bad. He should be given a shot. EagleBlueDon
Jalen deserves the rest of this year and probably next based on the lack of viable alternative options. Slightly based on his potential. I suppose he could get better, but good enough to establish himself as the franchise qb? I give that a very small chance of happening. Now if Jalen turns in some awful performances the next couple of games I'd let Gardner finish out the season to learn a little bit more about him. Then let them compete for 2022.

What has Jalen Hurts shown you with his arm that he can be anything more than a backup in this league?

This would be the correct course of action. Open competition. Can we please stop stanning for Hurts as if he's our franchise guy? It's pathetic. Matts4313
My hatred of your team makes me actually watch your stupid franchise. Gardner looked like a real QB. Hurts seems like a very nice person, but his ability to throw isnt great. Your offense looked legit for the first time all year. Thats not ideal.

Jeezla
Both QB's lack the arm strength to be true franchise guys. Kenny Pickett comp might actually be Gardner Minshew with smaller hands. If Minshew or Hurts had even Kirk Cousins level arm talent, one of them could potentially be a franchise QB (if you consider the #14/15/16 QB's franchise guys), but their pea shooters mean the vertical game will always be limited and DB's will always have an extra half second to react to any ball thrown over 20 yards. That extra half second is the difference between receptions and passes defended on too many throws, thus neither guy is the real answer. Jeezla
Also, until I see the Texans trade Watson to another franchise or Watson gets officially suspended for the 22 season, I think we'll trade for the creep in the offseason.
