Game #14 - Thu, Dec 16 @ LA Chargers

Work is a good way of dealing with grief and HC Reid suggested as much. Sneed will be welcome back, not least because Keenan Allen came off the COVID list.

The injury report is all full-practice except for Sneed. The Chargers ahve a number of players limited.

FBO has moved us to #7, offense #5, Defense #17, ST #2.
The Chargers are at #11, offense #3, Defense #20, ST #31.

I never understood why the Chargers have never paid attention to the special teams. The team was once #1 in offense and #1 in defense, but they missed the playoffs to to some historically bad ST. That was 2010 if you want to lok it up. Dexter McCluster had a PR TD in game #1 and it sort of set the tone for the whole season. FWIW Green Bay is #32.

It's a big change that losing Willie Gay is an impact, but more time for Bolton.

One thing that has been a big factor in the recent win streak is the turnover differential. We were +5 vs the Raiders, bringing us back to even for the year. Back to the days of Derrick Thomas, the +/- differential has been at the heart of Chiefs's best teams.

I was not expecting an injury report the day before the game. Are we going to see Kyle Long this week? Niang is practicing, so I expect him to start. Wylie has been listed as questionable. If Niang cannot go the whole game, Long is next up.

22 minutes ago, Chiefer said:

Three core players at three different levels of the defense out, reminds me of the beginning of the year.

I think theyre more prepared to handle it now, but thats still pretty rough.

both sides are gonna be missing guys on this one, gonna be a rough one

Fortunately, the backups have experience from back then. In the Raiders blowout, Wharton, Danna, and Okafor all played 40% of the snaps. Bolton has played full games before, Fenton is closer to fully healthy and Hughes had a huge game against Las Vegas. We have decent warm bodies in place. It's what happens when they need to come out that will be an issue.

We have an article that suggests we should focus on the Charger's passing game. Tell me it ain't so.

This is a decent breakdown of the game--can our OL dominate, can our pass rush generate pressure, can our CB handle the Chargers WR, and of course turnovers. I would add special teams, where we are among the best and they are among the worst.
