BEASToftheEAST4
Damn can’t believe the lack of activity here for what was a huge game. Anyways, here’s my takeaways from the game: Offense looked like they got their groove back. I’ve been insisting that Henderson is the better back, but Michel gets those hard fought yards OBJ looks more and more comfortable each passing week with last night being his best game yet. Pass pro held up well—especially considering we were missing two starters. I was really happy with how the defense played overall, considering we were without Ramsey. Gave up WAY too many big plays, especially when it was 2nd or 3rd and long. But it’s understandable given the personnel we had. D Will reminded us why we were all so high on him coming into this year. DL finally created some havoc after seemingly disappearing for a month or so (not counting the Jax game). Matt Gay continues to be rock solid but other than him, the special teams is a disaster. That inside recovery was inexcusable and that kinda stuff is really going to cost us come playoff time if it doesn’t get cleaned up. Overall, great team win and I couldn’t be happier that we did it to the Cardinals. Their fans have been TOO cocky since they beat us earlier in the year. Balance has been restored This game revitalized my confidence and excitement in this team for the season after a dreadful November

Felt like he was worth the risk, considering his age and prior production. 2 hours ago, MDY10 said: OBJ on the COVID list and apparently a bunch more coming. The Rams have shut down the facilities. And as I mentioned at the other forum this isn't the first time McVay wanted OBJ. And after his stint in Cleveland he may just want to stick around. We all know there isn't a lot of cap space next year but they may get it done.
JonStark
What a game. Mcvay put together two great coached games in a row. I love Hendo but if starting Sony gets that to continue, I'm all for it. Morris stepped up too dialing up that pressure without Ramsey. Stafford looks great and took a couple shot that didn't get called. This was a huge win. Not only does it bring us to within a game, but it gives us the momentum we need to know that we can beat the big teams, even when we're short handed. We were rumored to have a potential plan to bring back Von next year. If I had to pick who I'd rather have between OBJ and Von, I'd choose OBJ. I love what he gives us in the redzone. He's the exact type of receiver we've been missing.

I think we might not have to choose. If we make a legit run this year (NFCCG or better) these guys will want to come back because of the city. Have to factor in your off the field income(+ competing for ring) vs. making more money in a smaller market. Also, McVay has built a legit organization that allows players to be themselves and holds them accountable. It's pretty amazing what he's done given the closeness in age with his players. If that is the case, I wouldn't complain! I am not a cap expert, but we are already almost spent for 2022. A Stafford extension seems inevitable which will free up a lot of space. I'd think something is done to Higbee's number. Whitworth retiring frees up space as well. The priority FAs we have are Von, DWill, Corbett, OBJ, Noteboom, Brian Allen, Matt Gay, Ogbo, and Joseph-Day. Out of those, Joseph-Day is probably the easiest to be fine letting walk since Greg Gaines and Ashawn are still under contract. And we hope Bobby Brown can develop. But the rest are going to be tough to see part. We're probably losing 4-5 of those.

We'll find a gem or two in the 3rd/4th round, we'll bring in a cheap vet on 1yr deal. Im done stressing over cap space after what we've seen these last few years. It will be fine. I'm on board with that besides Gay. I was wrong when I wanted Zuerlein gone to save money. We were very fortunate the kicking fiasco last year didn't cost us games. Gay has been incredibly reliable. Allen has played well but he has limitations as a starting center. We can replace him with someone or even Corbett who I think the staff wanted to start there if there was a suitable guard to play RG. I also love Ogbo as a rotational rusher. But if losing him means keeping Von then it really isn't a question. And even if we lose both, we showed early on that Hollins and Floyd are fine starters with Lewis as a rotational rusher. Would just need to find someone else to play snaps. And maybe Garrett develops who I thought looked very promising in the preseason.

He is just what the Rams are looking for and thats a playmaking linebacker. He is around the football making plays. I I don't know what you saw but he was still pretty average...He's not good at coverage, he's slow...maybe he's slighty better than Young but it's not very difficult. I don't know what to think about this win except that we won in a classic fashion. It would be interesting to see what the team would do if we didn't have the INT in the endzone and with a 0-10 for Cards. I think we wouldn't have won the game in this situation so yes good win. But it didn't convince me that it's a new team.

I like SJD, but the emergence of Greg “The Hammer” Gaines made him expendable. With the exception of Gay, I think we may have replacements already on the roster for every guy you mentioned

But it didn't convince me that it's a new team. That Johnson int was a game changing play but it happens in pretty much every game. Just look at the Dal/Wash game, if Wash receiver didn’t drop that ball the play before the QB fumbles and turned the ball over maybe Wash completes the comeback by tying the game and who knows if they win OR if Dak didn’t recklessly throws a pick 6 up by 14pts they wouldn’t have to sweat it out the last 4-5 minutes of the game. So don’t dismiss that play Johnson had as not knowing what to think of this win. Rams made the plays they had to make to win, they played a cleaner and smarter game than the Cards and they won. Let’s not dismiss that the Rams had 26 pressures on Murray. That’s a lot of pressure and it’s not like Connor was running the ball well so that forced Murray to have to do everything against that all that constant pressure. Big win for them to show what I already knew and it gives them confidence as they enter into the playoffs that they can beat any team any where. Someone has a stat that says Stafford in his four games against the top teams in the NFC this season (Bucs, Cards 2x, and Packers) is over 1200yds passing 12tds/3ints and over 100 QB rating. So it’s not like Stafford has struggled against the top teams the Rams will have to get through in the NFC to get to the Superbowl. Since the BYE Stafford has three straight 3td games and he has 6tds no turnovers and completing 72% of his passes the past 2 games so Stafford is heating up again. He could legit carry this team to the Superbowl especially with Michel stabilizing the run game and OBJ looking more comfortable in the offense with every passing game.
