RedGold
I’ll play; Offense(26) QB: P. Mahomes // C. Henne RB: CEH // R. Jones // I. Pacheco // M. Burton WR: MVS // J. Watson WR: M. Hardman // S. Moore LT: O. Brown // G. Christian LG: J. Thuney // N. Allegretti😄 Creed Humphrey // A. Reiter RG: T. Smith RT: A. Wylie // D. Kinnard // L. Niang TE: T. Kelce // B. Blake // N. Gray // J. Fortson WR: Juju // J. Gordon Defense/ST(27) LE: G. Karlaftis // J. Kaindoh 3T: C. Jones // T. Wharton 1T: D. Nnadi // T. Stallworth RE: F. Clark // M. Danna // S. Calhoun LB: N. Bolton // L. Chenal LB: W. Gay // J. Johnson // E. Lee CB: T. McDuffie // J. Watson CB: L. Johnson // J. Williams NB: L. Snead // R. Fenton FS: J. Thornhill // D. Bush SS: J. Reid // B. Cook K: H. Butker P: T. Townsend LS: J. Winchester J. Gordon beat out J. Ross right now. I need to see more of Ross, and 2 backup WR’s that won’t play much ST is a bit much. Pacheco made it as a KR and his pass blocking. R. Jones and Gore are probably better, but don’t offer that. Calhoun is just a placeholder atm, still think we bring in a vet after Browns deal is done. Not really needed atm anyways, vets like rest and the young guys need reps.
onejayhawk
Here's a published prediction for the final 53. It does not take many chanceshttps://www.yardbarker.com/nfl/articles/projecting_the_chiefs_53_man_roster_pre_training_camp_edition/s1_16631_37636335 This one shows where they spend the money.https://chiefswire.usatoday.com/lists/kansas-city-chiefs-positional-spending-salary-cap-nfl-rankings-2022/ Edited July 1, 2022 by onejayhawk
onejayhawk
Going into the first preseason game, here is another published version. I think he's pretty close, mostly off at the core ST playershttps://www.arrowheadpride.com/2022/8/10/23300019/chiefs-53-man-roster-projection-2-
kingseanjohn
Going to give this one more go. Compared to my previous prediction: Gore and Ross are done for the year on IR. Niang is on PUP. Bell is TBD but going to join either IR or PUP. So far the only cuts from my list have been DL Edwards and CB Baker. I didn't include McKinnon because he wasn't signed yet. I also still don't see the Pacheco hype, but apparently the team does. So here's my final guess for the initial 53 (not a depth chart): Offense - 24 OL - Wylie, Smith, Kinnard, Humphrey, Thuney, Allegretti, Brown, Tega Wanogho QB - Mahomes, Henne RB - Edwards-Helaire, R. Jones, McKinnon, Pacheco FB - Burton WR - Valdes-Scantling, Watson, Smith-Schuster, Fountain, Hardman, Moore TE - Kelce, Gray, Fortson Defense - 26 DE - Clark, Kaindoh, Dunlap, Karlaftis, Danna, Herring DT - Nnadi, Saunders, C. Jones, Wharton, Shelton* LB - Gay, Bolton, Lee, Chenal, Harris CB - McDuffie, Watson, Sneed, Lammons, Fenton, J. Williams S - Thornhill, Bush, Reid, Cook Specialists - 3 K - Butker P - Townsend LS - Winchester *Shelton is my 53rd man. It was a tossup between him, DT Stallworth, CB Bootle, LB Carter, OL Christian, and QB Buechele My initial practice squad is: Josh Gordon, Austin Reiter, Cornell Powell, Tayon Fleet-Davis, Azur Kamara, Mike Rose, Jack Cochrane, Dicaprio Bootle, Nazeeh Johnson, Devon Key, and Zayne Anderson. That leaves 5 spots for FAs while only using 2 or 3 of the 6 veteran slots.
onejayhawk
I would guess three RB, four DT, five DE, with one or more slots going to dedicated ST players who are listed as DB, LB, or WR for forms sake. I do not see Prince making the team but they might carry a backup C. A fourth TE is possible though I do not see them keeping one after Bell is healthy. I am still leery of Lammons. Zayne Anderson has less experience but more trust.
KC_Guy
Updated my version in the OP, not too different from kingsean's. Biggest difference may be LB, where I kept Carter and Rose over Harris. I actually do not see R. Jones making the roster, but after some recent reports I would not be surprised to see Ealy make the team as the 4th RB. At DB it was a toss-up between Lammons (whom Toub considers an excellent gunner) and Anderson (whom I consider a bit in a Dirty Dan role). Both will have to make their living primarily on ST for now.
