LA Rams: General Thread

Also speaking of the Rose Bowl, I don't think the Tournament of Roses Association will ever entertain the idea of moving the Rose Bowl Game to SoFi Stadium.

Of course the Rams played in one of the Pasadena Super Bowls, losing to the Steelers. At least they're now 1-1 in Super Bowls played in local venues (coincidentally beating one of the Steelers' rivals, the Bengals, last season).

More fiction set in Los Angeles needs to have characters be fans of the Rams. They have been in LA longer than the Chargers and even the Raiders, who didn't even come close to spending more time in LA than they did in Oakland before returning to the latter city in 1995.

Also, neither UCLA or USC will ever consent to what would be considered a "neutral" field for that game or one where they, on the occasion that they're the home team, can't slant the fan advantage through ticket-accessibility in their respective favor.  Same reason why you'll never see Texas vs A&M or eve the Red River Shootout at JerryWorld.

The Coliseum and Rose Bowl are antiquated though. I'm sure for just one game each year they'd love playing at an NFL-caliber venue.

Wishful thinking.  They gain nothing financially from it and stand to lose plenty in terms of atmosphere-advantage (which can stand to affect a ton where money coming in from boosters, recruiting, money made from qualification for certain bowl games, etc. as it affects game results).  Also, the Rams/Chargers won't have interest (barring potentially Kroenke on the % of the gate he could negotiate into the contract) in having to do a changeover of the field on short-term as far as field-painted and so forth goes.  Nice in thought, but wholly unrealistic logistically and in context.

Unless the Chargers and Rams are both on the road that weekend. When both teams are scheduled at home the same week, one of the games has to be on national TV on a weeknight if the other is playing on Sunday (regardless of time slot). It's even possible for one team to be at home Thursday night and the other Monday night.

The NFC West also contains the three largest markets on the West Coast (LA, Bay Area, Seattle). Both MLB and the NHL also have a division with all three markets contained within. The NBA probably won't if the SuperSonics return.

What is this?

Apparently this season has taken its toll on McVay, but he’s not alone. I don’t think he should call it quits, especially with the season we’re having. We need to redeem ourselves, the window for another championship isn’t closed yet.

Well...what i said... we are ****ed 😑

Quote

Fox's Jay Glazer reports Rams head coach Sean McVay is more likely to leave the team than to return for the 2023 season.

ESPN's Adam Schefter on Saturday reported McVay's future with the Rams is "in limbo" after a disastrous Super Bowl title defense in 2022. With no draft resources and salary cap troubles galore, it wouldn't be surprising if McVay jumped ship and returned to coaching for another team better positioned to make a championship run. Glazer said many in the Rams organization expect McVay to leave, and to do so shortly after the team's regular season finale against the Seahawks. Raheem Morris would be a candidate to fill the Rams head coaching vacancy, per Glazer.
