Rtnldave
No one will ever be able to fill his shoes. He was one of a kind and football's voice for generations. He will be missed.
plan9misfit
Well, at least he and Pat Summerall get to call games again.

Imagine if Summerall was your grandpa and he read you bedtime stories. Such an unbelievable voice just made you smile and relax. Madden's great energy and sense of humor was the perfect compliment. WizardHawk
RIP. Would be pretty tough to name a more influential person in NFL history.
The_Slamman
this is what made John Madden great. Those 90s teams were great but it would not have been the without JM.

Northland
Madden made the game more accessible. He made it fun. His knowledge enthusiasm and passion for football was contagious. He and Summerall together again as it should be. For me they were the ultimate broadcasting team. I was lucky enough to grow up when Madden coached and he was a great coach. With the exception I think of Bud Grant the great coaches of my youth are gone. Landry, Noll, Shula, Knox, now joined by Madden. Its a sad day. Condolences to his family and friends. I will always remember John Madden with his shirt untucked, hair all over, the security pass flopping all over as he went up and down the sideline. He was a terrific coach. I'll miss him. D82
I'll always remember Madden & Summerall announcing games as a kid growing up. Madden especially is just synonymous with football, especially with his game franchise. Sad day for the NFL.
